KTM 690 SMC R 2014

Menus

When Oli the Belgian took over the KTM 690 SMC, it didn’t take long for his test to turn into a nice SM session, parts of the wheels in the air and little measured gallantry. Katoche is releasing an even spicier version today: the SMC R. More style, more watts, more boiling.
This supermotard worthy of the name gets the engine from the 690 Duke R. With 67 horsepower, the mono spits 3 more nags than the former standard SMC. In addition to the 3 maps available, the moulbif also benefits from an anti-dribble transmission. Sensational mechanics, dry, punchy, which also thinks of preserving (a little) the user’s wallet. Consumption is announced to be lower and the service area extends to 10,000 km. In 2014, the mono adopts a double ignition and a Ride-by-Wire system.

Since the SMC, the 690 R takes a pinch of pounds. He does not even deign to dwell on it; because with only 140 kg without gasoline, the SMC-R plays in the category of super-light road machines. A real toy that sharpens itself in many ways in this raw-stung version.

In addition to the extra watts, the supermotard sees its frame painted orange, as tradition dictates for the R models from Mattighofen. The suspensions are recalibrated with reduced travel and more hydraulic retention. The fork is improved in 2014 with separate damping circuits (compression in the left leg, rebound in the right) The KTM 690 SMC-R is also distinguished by its fender, tank sides and saddle revised as well as by some beautiful parts, such as the triple trees cut in the mass or the superb spoked rims (anodized orange) fitted with very sporty Conti AttackSM tires. The tone is set: gas in full and fun in profusion. The Bosch 9M + ABS can be deactivated in 2014 (or the ABS Supermoto as an option) without restricting the sporty bicycles.
