Mash 125 Cafe Racer 2014

Gone is the scent of Mito, NSR, RS or TZR backpack races. There was a time when kids flirted with performance on sporty, streamlined, real miniature trackers. From now on, we return to the values of a distant time, where we created a sportswoman with simply handlebars-bracelets attached to the fork tubes and a sport saddle end.. It was called a cafe-racer. Mash has captured the craze for this kind of machine, and offers a 125 captivating this spirit. It is called the most simply in the world 125 Cafe Racer.

The retro-classics range is now complete at Mash. In 125, we have the choice between the small English, the American, the scrambler and here the cafe-racer. No other brand offers so much choice in this displacement.
The base is common to all: the 125 Seventy; improved and embellished according to the variations. The Cafe-Racer combines the elements of different models to result in a machine intended to type in the emotional almost juvenile.

First and essential step, handlebars-bracelets. Any self-respecting cafe-racer should allow you to grab the fork straight into the pognes. Fixed at the top of the tubes and displayed as lieutenants of the single counter, they ensure style. But Mash didn’t set them too low, so as to favor a more cool rather than sporty driving position. In the same vein, the controls have been moved back … a little. With the megaphone pot and the seat backrest, you can easily imagine yourself on your way to the ACE Cafe London. A miniature Thruxton imitation. With however a small mono of 124 cm3, which also smells of the 60s.

Very simple, nice and voluntary, the engine of the 125 Cafe-Racer is the same as that of the entire Seventy series. With its fins, its 2 valves and its carburetor, this revival of an old Suzuki block does not seek the ardor but the useful and the “roll-every-day”. Almost 12 horsepower in the connecting rod, seeking a more alert going thanks to a shortened transmission compared to other Mash 125s.

Mash 125 Cafe Racer 2014

We said that this “retro-sportswoman” shared various elements stung to her sisters. What is it? From the Seventy, the original Mash 125, we find the tubular steel frame, the engine and the 12-liter tank. The peripherals are beefier, from the Seventy-Five: an inverted 38 mm fork, one brake disc per wheel and 17-inch rims. Anecdote, the discs are perforated; it’s not much, but it gives you a difference in the range.

As you will have understood, the Mash 125 Cafe-Racer plays the card of the crush and the scent of English street races of the heyday. It will not be asked for mind-boggling performance, but for a utility, it has a damn good mouth. By virtue of its attributes, it is the most expensive of the French manufacturer’s 125 range. However, being born in China, the Mash can still boast a tempting price.
