At Michelin – inventor of the slick tire, the radial tire for motorcycles and current supplier to MotoGP ™ – racing has always been part of the DNA. Michelin is now using the experience and technologies from MotoGP ™ for a whole series of sports tires.

The name of the product range already symbolizes this transfer of know-how: “MICHELIN Power Range”. The four sports tires are named accordingly: MICHELIN Power 5, MICHELIN Power GP, MICHELIN Power Cup 2 and MICHELIN Power Slick 2.

The range is aimed at riders of sporty bikes, from naked bikes to superbikes, who can have different expectations with the same motorcycle:

  • the MICHELIN Power 5 is aimed at bikers who ride 100% on the road and expect driving pleasure with constant safety. A newly developed carcass offers easy handling, high steering precision and transparent feedback for maximum driving pleasure on public roads. The high silica content of the rubber compounds in the Power 5 ensures excellent wet grip and high mileage. The tread has 11 percent tread grooves.
  • the MICHELIN Power GP is designed for road riders who are looking for maximum performance and / or are occasionally on the racetrack. It complements the sports tire range as a super sports tire with a driving profile of 50/50 (road / racetrack). The Power GP benefits from a new carcass that improves handling, as well as the new rubber compounds with an adjusted proportion of silica and carbon black. It has 6.5 percent negative profile, with the slick zones of the tread shoulders ensuring maximum grip and constant performance on the racetrack. The 200/55 ZR 17 dimension for superbikes is new to the range.
  • the MICHELIN Power Cup 2 is a street-legal racing tire for super sporty use on the road and on the racetrack. As a real plug-and-play racing tire, it offers a short warm-up time and reliable grip from the first meter. The synthetic rubber compounds with a high proportion of soot, in conjunction with the slick-like tread shoulders, ensure maximum dry grip and constant hot grip on the road and racetrack. KTM relies on the super sporty MICHELIN Power Cup 2 for the original equipment of the 890 Duke R as well as the brand new 1290 SuperDuke RR.
  • the MICHELIN Power Slick 2 was specially developed for racing training and beginners. Its carcass construction makes it easy to drive and requires little adjustment work on the chassis. Synthetic polymer blends from racing ensure a wide temperature window and excellent hot grip for long-lasting, constant performance on the racetrack.
