Moto-Guzzi 750 V7 RACER 2012

Like all models powered by the 744 cm2 block, the V7 Racer benefits from a big update to its twin cylinder. There are no less than 70% of new pieces, both inside and out. The fins of the cylinder heads soften their edges then are covered with a new cylinder head cover frankly more classy. The candle takes the opportunity to hide and the compression ratio to increase; it drops to 10.2: 1. In the cylinders, a lot has been revised: new combustion chambers, new pistons and rings, and modified intake. This is now done via a single 38 mm injection body. The gas flow passes through a Y section to feed the two bowls. At the output, there is a lambda probe for each cylinder. In addition to improved fuel economy, this revised unit announces better performance, with 51 horses now and more than 6 mkg of torque. The gearbox also announces a better pleasure.

Derived from the V7 Cafe and Classic, this V7 Racer emphasizes personalization and a certain exuberance. And the least that can be said is that this cafe racer exercise is noticeable, both near and far. He had already done it when it was only a concept-bike presented at EICMA 2009. Teaser, dapper, it thrilled the people so much that Guzzi barely touched it up before bringing it to life. in series to the delight of lovers of beautiful machines. Because let’s face it, this machine has the mouth. A very nice customization job, halfway between the cafe-racer and the tuning. The limit is never crossed and remains in the taste of an Italian achievement.

With its red frame and chrome tank, the V7 Racer immediately arouses curiosity while igniting the gaze of passers-by. The manufacturer has put in a lot of effort to make this bike almost delicate to detail as well as shimmering in its rendering. For whoever lays eyes on this machine, there are nods everywhere: spoked rims, hubs and swingarms painted in red, leather belt on the tank, racing aluminum covers around the air box, plates with numbers on the mini windshield and on the sides of the rear saddle, aluminum pedestrian controls cut in the mass, half-handlebars around an enriched upper yoke and fork gussets … throw! After serving this appetizing aperitif, does the V7 Racer outdo itself with the main course and the engine? Not really, and we’d be almost disappointed if we only had the 750 to eat. The Guzzi character will be there but the 51 horsepower of the twin will only bring a moderate flavor to this vintage roadster. Despite the improvements to the mechanics made for 2012, it frankly deserves a more gutsy block, like the 940 installed on the Bellagio. Okay, the V7 Racer is all about parading rather than scouring. But with such a name and bracelets in the pognes, we still want to put gas as soon as it starts to turn.
