Motobit has invested more than two years in developing software that should be able to understand the driving behavior of motorcyclists while delivering a warning to the driver in an easy-to-understand and non-distracting way. The result is the Motobit Sentinel.

Combination with app

If you want to use the Sentinel, you must first install the Motobit app, which has been available since July, on your smartphone. Only one version for Android is currently available, with an iOS version to follow in 2021. The app records all the routes driven and derives a very personal driving profile from them. The new Motobit Sentinel then monitors the current journey based on this driving profile. If the algorithm detects that the driver is approaching a curve too quickly in the route ahead of him, based on his previous driving profile, he receives a warning – the device vibrates. This is to avoid dangerous driving situations. The Sentinel maintains a connection to the smartphone via Bluetooth.

Even more functions

But the Motobit Sentinel can do even more. Equipped with an emergency call system, the rescue chain can be triggered at the push of a button in the event of an accident. Groups can also be formed with several Motobit Sentinels. Should the group break up in the course of the tour, the head of the group will automatically receive a message. Further features are planned for the future, such as warnings about speed measurements, accident or construction sites.

The Motobit Sentinel is hardly bigger than a watch and can also be worn like a watch with a bracelet. Alternatively, the device can also be positioned anywhere on the body. The wearer just needs to make sure that they can still feel the vibrating alert.
Charged via a USB connection, the energy supply of the battery should guarantee the operation of the Motobit Sentinel for several weeks.

In order to be able to bring the Motobit Sentinel onto the market, the developers have a Crowdfunding campaign started. Supporters can join from 99 euros. In addition to the limited basic package, further participation options are offered. The series version of the Motobit Sentinel will later be available for a price of around 150 to 170 euros.
