MotoGP - Interview Valentino Rossi The Game: Guiles78, world champion in his living room -

Last year, Site sent one of its Premium readers, Guiles78, a copy of Valentino Rossi The Game, the 2016 edition of the official MotoGP video game. Motorcycle and console enthusiast, he talks about his experience for us. Champion interview.

A little over a year ago, Site readers holding the Premium Card – who as everyone knows are still a little more fortunate than the others – were able to – free! – from the MotoGP video game "".

One of them contacted us to thank us and let us know that he had finished the game. "Guiles78" – that’s his nickname on PlayStation – is multiple champion of the world, of his neighborhood, of his living room and despite this, continues to link sessions and seasons. Like valentino !

We got in touch with him again, in order to know his opinion – expert, apparently – on the game of the nine-time world champion "IRL" or "in real life" … Interview.

Site: Hi Guiles78, so how did you like Valentino Rossi The Game (VRTG for friends)? You completely finished it ?
Guiles78, world champion of his salon:
Yes I loved it. I was so hooked that I wanted to win all the trophies. As a result, I am Moto3, Moto2 and MotoGP Champion. Even stronger than Zarco !

MNC: How long did it take you around VRTG ?
G78: I couldn’t say how long it took me. But the lifespan in solo is good thanks to the multiple challenges, and it is almost unlimited in online multiplayer mode, especially when his friends are playing it too! We have fun figuratively as well as literally! But it’s still virtual so we can let off steam, no risk of getting hurt…

MNC: What did you particularly like about this game? ?
G78:
First of all, and most importantly, the playing experience is good. As a biker, I’m pretty picky about this. Motorcycle games are generally very arcade-oriented, as MotoGP games were in Namco’s days with their bikes that kept sliding under acceleration. Since Milestone is in charge, it’s more realistic, more precise, more demanding and therefore more satisfying.

I like the fact that all three categories are present. The Moto3 allows you to discover the circuits relatively gently but above all encourages you to release the brakes early and maintain maximum speed in the bends. In short, we learn to "fly". The Moto2 are more powerful, we begin to have to dose the gas. Finally, MotoGP is the most impressive, limit unmanageable if you start with that from the first part. It is clearly the toughest category, but also the most exhilarating and the most enjoyable !

Another good point of this game is that you can drive a lot of motorcycles from the last few seasons, and their behavior varies from one model to another, even within the same brand. There are more or less stable M1s, more or less docile RCVs, more or less calm Desmosedici when braking. It is very well done from this point of view. There are motorcycles to his liking, others downright not. And it varies depending on the players and their riding style.

There is also the fact that we can play with former riders and their motorcycles. It seems that the 500 cc 2-stroke are significantly more responsive than the 1000 cc 4-stroke? Well it’s very well transcribed in the game! When it rains, you really have to take it easy on the gas trigger…

Finally, it’s really pleasant the feeling of joining the VR46 team. We participate in training at the Ranch, in R1 sessions in Misano, all this in the company of Valentino and his pilots. The videos that precede the challenges retracing the careers of Rossifumi, Valentinik and The Doctor are also very nice: Vale looks back on his best moments and we can learn a lot of things. Like the time his grandmother called him all worried because the police had arrested him at the end of the Italian GP for speeding. It was a staging of course, but the granny was obviously not aware!

MNC: What did you not like on the contrary? ?
G78:
Technically, VRTG isn’t crazy: not smooth enough and not looking good enough for a game on PS4. It also sins noise level because of the lack of atmosphere on the circuit, it is obvious. Some engine sounds should be reviewed, especially the Honda RCV which makes a rattling noise, 2-stroke limit therefore irrelevant (see the video above, Editor’s note). And then we are also a bit unsatisfied in terms of tracks, motorcycles and riders of older generations. We would like even more! Last thing: I found that the Rally or Drift parts in the car didn’t bring anything. While driving at the Ranch on the other hand, allows you to improve your driving skills, especially the management of gas and glide. This is fun !

MNC: Did you know the previous MotoGP? How is VRTG different ?
G78:
Of course I knew the old ones, and VRTG stands out from it thanks to the pretty awesome content dedicated to Valentino and his long career. On the other hand, graphically and in feeling, I find that it stagnates too much.

MNC: You tested the new MotoGP17 ?
G78:
Not yet. But I was hoping Site would send me a copy;) I would be curious to see what I’m really worth, by participating in the new eSport Championship…

MNC: Do you have the motorcycle license? What are you rolling on ?
G78:
Yes, I have had the permit for about fifteen years. I started on a KMX 125 (but my first motorized two-wheeler was a sublime MBK Swing), then I switched to a Fazer 600. I ride on a good old Pantheon 125 every day … But I fell for it at the beginning of the year on a second-hand Speed Triple SE, to play elbows with my biker friends on weekends. It’s a change from the scooter !

MNC: As a biker, do you find good sensations with the controller in hand? ?
G78:
Yes, I can confirm that the sensations are good, even if it could be even more realistic. For example, we ultimately fall little, especially on the edge of the track where it is difficult to fall. The game tolerates small outings in the grass, but I think this is so as not to discourage non-biker players.

MNC: What would you like to see appear in the next version of VRTG ?
G78:
Suzuka! I remember I loved this circuit in the GP500 game on PC. The first part of the circuit looked a bit like the Mugello one, with quick turns all uphill. Had to be very precise and in the rhythm. I would love to be able to drive Daijiro Kato’s 250 Honda, or Harada’s 250 Aprilia … Or Haga’s RS Cube. !

MNC: Would you be tempted by a Marc Marquez The Game ?
G78:
NEVER. No, more seriously, why not ?! The "intimate" side, with the exclusive interviews and additional game sequences bring a real plus. It might be fun to relive Marc’s early days, to do dirt track in Barcelona, or to try his Moto2 race in Valencia where he had to start from last place and still won. In "hard" or "expert" mode in the game, it would undoubtedly be hot … What would also be good, it would be to release games on the former stars of the Grand Prix: Biaggi, Doohan, Roberts, Sheene, Nieto , Agostini. There is plenty to do ! It would be a great way for young bikers / gamers to learn more about the "Continental Circus".

MNC: Are there any questions you would like to ask the game developers? ?
G78:
I would like to ask them when they plan to switch to another game engine, to improve graphics and sound in particular? But also to refine the AI which is too aggressive in its actions and reactions, for my taste.

MNC: A question to Valentino maybe ?
G78:
When will the 10th world title be ?

MNC: And about his game ?
G78:
I know Vale loved Colin McRae and his video game. And we know he is a competitor at heart. So, does he know if his game has sold as well as his idol’s? ?
