"Unfortunately we had some problems with the longevity of the tires," said Gregorio Lavilla, WorldSBK sporting director. "Following a meeting with the teams to discuss the different options, we decided that the best way to go was the ‘flag to flag‘ race, with which our rules are in line. We usually use them for climatic reasons, but now we’re going to use them for other reasons, unless it’s raining ".

The redistribution of the first nine places on the grid is respected to the letter: Marco Melandri, winner of the first round, is relegated to ninth position behind the drivers who accompanied him on the podium, namely Tom Sykes and Chaz Davies.
