Airbags - C-Protect Air: Bering deploys a new branch airbag -

Bering (Shark group) is launching its first wire-triggered motorcycle airbag in the form of a vest to slip over a jacket or jacket. This C-Protect Air is physically connected to the motorbike or scooter by a cable, which inflates the airbag "in 0.0130 seconds" via a gas cartridge whose lifespan is estimated at ten years by the french brand. Explanations.

Made in France, this new motorcycle airbag received two stars from the Automobile Safety and Repair Organization (SRA) and CE certification from the Regional Center for Innovation and Technology Transfers (CRITT) Sport Loisirs de Châtellerault (86). "In softshell material, it provides discretion and triggering efficiency unique in the field of wired airbags," says Bering, who naturally describes it as "the most competitive airbag on the market".

Priced at € 399.90, this C-Protect Air motorcycle airbag is actually much more affordable than the electronic airbag developed at great expense by Bering and whose high price (€ 899) is a brake on its growth. On the other hand, the "thread on the leg" aspect of this novelty may dissuade more than one, in particular because of the risk of tripping if the cable is not unhooked when getting off the saddle (see demonstration video at the bottom of the page).

"Probably not, because you need a force of at least 30 kg to trigger the mechanism: you will be retained by the strap", assures Bering to refute this possibility, very often discussed in the case of wired airbags.

This new C-Protect Air airbag also has its own CE certified back protector, which brings its advertised weight to a total of "1.3 kg". Logically, nothing should hinder its deployment: backpack and over-jacket slipped over are to be banned, for example! Once inflated, its cushion protects the thorax, abdomen and back "from the cervical to the coccyx", specifies Bering.
