All Duels - Face to Face Honda CB 1000 R - Yamaha FZ1: duel among the 1000! - Self-discipline in the city!

For almost three years now, the Yamaha FZ1 has reigned supreme in the 1000 cc sporty roadster category. But it must now deal with the very sharp Honda CB 1000 R … and it is not won! Face to face: comparative test.

Self-discipline in the city !

Our two roadsters are particularly suited to city use: their pleasant position and the smoothness of their well-filled 4-cylinder make them very pleasant machines to live in. They are even so comfortable, even in the worst traffic conditions, that you always have to keep a cool head…

In this respect, the CB 1000 R is a particularly formidable and push-to-crime tool! Its front axle shows amazing agility while being riveted to the ground. Never has a motorcycle of this displacement offered such ease of use. Suddenly, with such a natural and efficient machine in your hands, you are quickly tempted to multiply eccentricities! And there, mistrust … It is imperative to know how to reason in order not to exceed your own limits and to keep your license points !

And if the Honda turns out to be truly bluffing, the Yamaha is far from being ridiculous: with its very upright position, the FZ1 rider is particularly at ease. He sees far and can anticipate well between cars. The electronic injection, which has fortunately been revised compared to the first models, remains despite everything more brutal than on the CB 1000 R.

In the end, the Yamaha 4-cylinder is almost more suited to urban use than that of the Honda: quite hollow below 5,000 rpm, it allows you to drive "cool" without worrying too much about power. On the Honda, whose torque is omnipresent from the lowest revs, it will be necessary to adjust the throttle grip more.
