All Duels - Head to Head Kawasaki VN 1700 Voyager - Triumph Rocket III Touring: 4000 cc for the holidays! - Invitation to travel: practical aspects and loading

Do you like to go far, long and on the couple? But you don’t know (or don’t want to) travel light ? No problem: Site has tested two ships on the road for you: Kawasaki VN 1700 Voyager and Triumph Rocket III Touring … Duel XXL !

The invitation to travel: practical aspects and loading

Barely in built-up areas, the Verte and the Tromph rediscover their colors once the horizon is clear: the two customs-GTs then take the opportunity to show off all their road attributes and their insatiable appetites to "eat the terminal"! A vocation clearly displayed on board the 1700 Voyager, which offers a multitude of controls and tips: cruise control, audio system, numerous storage compartments

Like all machines equipped with a "motorcycle radio", the volume of the music increases with the speed. It is even possible to connect the iPod generously offered by Kawasaki thanks to the connection which is in the right storage compartment (read). On the other hand, no CD player.

In comparison, the Rocket III looks pretty stripped down. Only little tip to know: the large windshield can be removed in a jiffy to roll with your nose in the wind if your heart tells you. But for the rest, the English has astounding equipment gaps at this price level: no tachometer, no hydraulic clutch control, no keyed fuel cap … of accessories (long as the arm!) seems unfortunately essential.

No less than 52 items allow you to customize your Rocket or simply to make it more practical. Note also that it is almost impossible to put any lock (U or chain) through one of the wheels, because they are almost full. Too bad because at this price, there is no doubt that the English is likely to attract envy…

In the loading department, on the other hand, our two GTs invite us to take care of the superfluous in addition to the essentials, while throwing in the stinging nettles and other backpacks! If the Kawasaki takes the advantage with its carrying capacity of 126 liters (!) Divided between its enormous 50 l top box – which easily accommodates two full-face helmets – and its two 38 l suitcases, the 36 l suitcases of the Triumph are, however, well designed and practical to load..

In addition, like the windshield, they can be removed very quickly in order to ride lighter. Practical, all these storage compartments are of course locked with a key, just like the Voyager’s storage compartments..
