Three years after the launch of the Dorsoduro 750 (read in particular our), Aprilia drives the point home by equipping its big supermoto with a 90 ° V-twin of 130 hp and 115 Nm of torque. Lovers of "always more", look no further: this Dorsoduro 1200 sticks 35 and 15 guns respectively to its designated rivals, the Hypermotard Ducati and the KTM 990 SM !

Impressive performances in the service of pure arsouille, as shown by a hectic presentation video in which this "Dorso 1200" only evolves in wheelies, stops and other acrobatics as futile as they are exciting! This unambiguous message is corroborated by the alluring expressions that permeate the press kit: "no compromise","pure fun, "explosive cocktail of power, agility and precision"… Zarma !

To exploit this boiling potential, the Italian engineers called on peripherals to match: the Sachs inverted 43mm fork and mono-shock are fully adjustable and the 320mm front double discs are clamped by Brembo radial calipers. through reinforced hoses.

Taking the features of its little sister – which displays 38 hp and 33 Nm of torque less -, the Dorsoduro 1200 has the same inspired pencil stroke, sublimated by a finely chiseled rear part and surrounded by a double exhaust outlet. The bike is high (870 mm saddle height: less than 1.75 m!), Compact, and its 925 mm handlebars surmount a tank whose capacity increases to 15 liters.

The chassis combining steel trellis and superb aluminum plates received only minor modifications to support the increase in performance: it is barely if we notice that the caster angle opens slightly (+ 1.3 °) and the wheelbase is lengthened by 23 mm.

On the other hand, the lack of practical aspects is immediately obvious: apart from the adjustable levers and the readable and complete dashboard (read the "Instrumentation" part of our technical sheet on the next page), the absence of compromise to the comfort of the Italian confirms its exclusive and sporty stance !

These include the hingeless fuel cap, the anecdotal action of the deflector placed on the fork crown, the tiny trunk and the cruel fate reserved for the passenger: if it is temporarily possible to brave the absence of handles and a seat as well comfortable as a log, the daring voluntary will abdicate after a few kilometers, the skin "buttocks" burned by the exhausts!
