All Tests - Honda Vision Test: a scooter not that small? - The city, the whole city ... but nothing but the city

The new Honda Vision scooter, replacing the Lead 110, is currently arriving in Honda dealerships. Site tried it on the banks of the Marne to find out what this new small scooter made in China is worth… First try !

The city, the whole city … but nothing but the city

The grip of the scooter is childish. Light as a feather, we go up and down the Vision from its central stand like a small 50 cc! The side stand, also supplied as standard, is just as easy to deploy.

Once started, the engine accentuates this impression of using a small displacement. The back and forth of the piston and the "pouf-pouffe" of the exhaust are also of appreciable discretion. The injection and the transmission, both responsive and smooth, allow to circulate at very low speed without any collision.

Docile, therefore, but also super short (less than 1.85 m), very thin (670 mm) and steering very correctly, the little Honda slips without any problem to the first line at each red light and will leave more an MP3 in these retro – also very effective.

Posted in pole position, his pilot however struggled to execute the "hole shot" … Courageous but not reckless, the single cylinder of our Vision does not allow us to follow the SH 125 and the PCX of our companions of the day. People who are impatient, in a hurry or always late will not be satisfied with his services..

Those who, on the other hand, do not seek to wow the gallery will find in the 8.4 horses and 8.7 Nm of the Vision enough to evolve in the city in peace … and in better safety than on a 50 cc choked by the clamping at 45 km / h !

At the aspiration behind a 125 cc, the Vision picks up 110 km / h from its counter, but it only takes a barely pronounced rise to drop the top speed to 90 km / h. Driving on the expressway is therefore possible, but not really recommended..

In the city center, the times are sufficient to dominate the flow of cars, while the cycle part offers unexpected comfort. Without compromising the agility of the Vision, the 14 inch wheels cleverly replace the 10 and 12 inch "fire" wheels of the Lead.

Particularly long, the saddle does not really have a floor and allows older children to back up properly. The position is less relaxed than on a GT, but at least we no longer look like the famous toad on its no less famous matchbox. !

The flat floor accommodates the pilot’s feet perfectly – size 44 in this case! -, but you will have to move them apart a little to put a bag stowed higher on its hook. There is a good chance, however, that this bag will find its place in the trunk under the saddle, since it can accommodate an integral when parking..

Finally, the duo does not scare the Vision! The two passengers share – without arguing – the saddle, while the "co-pilot" benefits from retractable footrests quite practical and reassuring, like the handles formed by the rear luggage rack – in aluminum , Please !

It is two people on the same scooter that we note the tendency of the rear shock absorber to rebound – a little, it is not dangerous – after a passage on a speed bump. In general, however, the suspensions of the Vision do not call for any criticism: they do their job, no more and no less !

On the braking side, the criticism is highly positive. Thanks to the CBS, beginners do not risk locking the rear wheel by suddenly gripping the left lever. Then just add pressure on the right lever to stop the light scooter more effectively.

However, we regret the absence of ABS, even as an option, as on the PCX. So on rainy days, Vision users will have to be extra careful and simply brake with the left lever so as not to lose the front. !

On these same rainy days, make sure nothing is left in the storage compartments located in the apron: they do not have a cover, and even less a lock! Too bad, because their good depth allows to pile up a lot of clutter.

The 30-kilometer walk along the Marne is already ending. Too short to check the announced consumption (2 l / 100 km), this trip on the handlebars of the Vision allowed Site to validate the manufacturer’s statements: this scooter is truly cut for the city and is doing very well.

For 1,890 euros, future customers will afford the services of a compact two-wheeler, comfortable in traffic, sober and silent. Its low displacement and lack of protection, however, will keep it away from peri-urban areas and their expressways..

Finally, beware of this winter too because if CBS braking is excellent in the dry, it does not replace ABS on wet ground … or even snowy. !
