Moto Morini: the right price ?

Business - Moto Morini: the right price? - Used MOTO MORINI

Moto Morini is trying by all means to regain its former glory … The Italians’ last attempt: to offer their new 11 1/2 model for hire with an option to buy. The other models remain available, but their prices are soaring… Explanations.

In 2014, the Scrambler 1200 appears on the official website of the Moto Morini brand at € 12,900, the Corsaro Veloce climbs to € 15,900, the Gran Passo goes to € 16,500 and the Rebello peaks at € 21,300. Either respective tariff increases of 2400, 4000, 4100 and 6400 euros compared to the official 2013 tariffs !

Asked by Site, the big boss of, a dealership specializing in motorcycles with a strong character based in Avignon (84), reveals the two reasons for these impressive price increases…

Where to buy and maintain your Morini ?

The Moto Morini, sold only online on the Internet in recent years by the factory, the Moto Morini can again be ordered directly from the dealers listed on the official website. But beware: this list is subject to change !

According to the boss of Motorenard, "Italian officials want to reduce (again, Editor’s note!) the number of dealers in France in order to emphasize the quality of services. They are even considering setting up a system of delivery and collection of motorcycles from customers for the sale and maintenance of motorcycles.". To be continued !

Christophe Cussonnet – that’s the name of the friendly and passionate dealer – reminds us first of all that the prices were particularly low over the past two years, "because the brand had large premises free of charge, which is no longer the case today".

Forced to move and pay rent – like everyone else, after all – the factory passes this "extra cost" into the price of its motorcycles. But that’s not all !

"We have noticed significant changes on motorcycles this year", continues our interlocutor:"on the Scrambler for example, the Ohlins shock absorber replaces the Paioli, the addition of a second Lambda sensor makes the injection settings more reliable and some parts are now made of carbon".

"On the Corsaro", continues Doctor Cussonnet,"the shock absorber is also an Ohlins, the silencers are Termignoni clad in carbon, the engine has been reworked to reduce consumption, etc..". So many developments which also contribute to this price hike.

The 11 1/2, the latest from the Casalecchio di Reno plant, is more affordable and can be exchanged for a check for 10,900 euros. And Moto Morini intends to increase the attractiveness of this 2014 novelty by offering its customers an exclusive "Long Rent" package….

As opposed to the short-term rental offered on the Gran Passo – it is possible to rent the maxi trail for half a day at 75 euros up to a whole month for 1900 euros – this long-term rental of the "eleven and a half "is similar to an LOA (rental with option to purchase).

Against a first payment of 3000 euros at the time of signing the contract, and for a monthly rent of 200 euros, the rider benefits from his mount for 59 months, "registration, overhauls, assistance, additional tire fitting and insurance" included.

At the end of the five years of rental, four options are available to the tenant: "buy the motorcycle by paying 4000 euros, buy a new Moto Morini with a discount of 2000 euros on the current rate, rent a new motorcycle with a discount of 2000 euros or return the vehicle to Moto Morini".

By selecting the first proposal, the price of the "small" roadster (on this model, the 1200 cc Superquadro V-twin develops "only" 120 hp, against 140 on the Corsaro!) Comes to 18,800 euros over five years, insurance and maintenance included.
