A new Grand Prix for the final of the MotoGP 2020 season

Calendars - A new Grand Prix for the 2020 MotoGP season finale -

MotoGP World Championship organizers announce new Grand Prix "in Europe on November 22," which will serve as the final for the 2020 MotoGP season one week after the Valencia GP. Explanations.

To compensate, the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM), IRTA (association of teams) and Dorna Sports (promoter) are organizing "another race in Europe" on a circuit which should be known by August 10. This new programming change means that the 2020 World Championship will only be played in Europe.

"Another race will take place in Europe on the weekend of 20 to 22 November and that the latter will constitute the final", indicate this morning the organizers ensuring that "more details on the place will be given on Monday 10 August".

A new race in Portimao or Mugello ?

Two tracks are possible for MNC: the first would be to compete in a race in Portugal in Portimao. This fast and hilly track, in the heart of a vast complex with the most recent standards, is the joy of World Superbike riders every year but has never hosted MotoGP. Serial cancellations caused by Covid-19 could create this opportunity, especially as Dorna Sport manages the two championships !

Another scenario: this 14th “mystery” race will take place at Mugello, temple of the speed Grand Prix in Italy, which saw its Grand Prix be canceled with the Coronavirus. This reversal of the situation would allow the Italians – very represented on and outside the paddock – to rebalance the situation with the eternal Spanish rival, which is hosting no less than six races this year: the Grands Prix d’Espagne, d’Andalusia, de Catalonia, Aragon, Teruel and Valencia !

Following the cancellation of the Italian GP at Mugello, Italy for its part only welcomes the San Marino and Emilia Romagna Grands Prix on the Misano circuit: insufficient, we imagine, to satisfy the transalpine "pazionne"…

To be continued on MNC: stay connected !
