Reopening of Aprilia and Moto Guzzi factories on May 4

The Piaggio group plans to reopen on May 4 its scooter manufacturing plant in Pontedera (Italy) and those of its Aprilia and Moto Guzzi motorcycle brands, in agreement with the Italian government and the unions of the three companies.. Explanations.

Italy, particularly affected by the coronavirus with around 25,000 victims, is considering an exit – highly regulated – from the health crisis and containment linked to Covid-19. Enough to foresee the resumption of activity in the factories of the Piaggio group, owner of Aprilia and Moto Guzzi.

"The Piaggio group has signed memoranda of understanding with the unions of the Italian factories of Aprilia (Noale and Scorzè in Venice) and Moto Guzzi (Mandello del Lario) which define the measures to be implemented to guarantee maximum protection of the health of workers during the resumption of production currently suspended due to the Covid-19 virus ", reports the transalpine group. 

This resumption of the manufacture of motorcycles and scooters will take place as soon as the confinement in Italy is lifted, scheduled for May 4 after the country recorded for the first time this week a drop in the number of patients.. 

To reassure its troops, Piaggio announces that "important disinfection and cleaning measures" are planned in the various premises, before and during production operations. Each employee will also receive a mask, gloves and "if necessary glasses".

Hydroalcoholic gel dispensers will be installed in the key points of factories and notices illustrating the now usual "barrier gestures" will be distributed: hand washing, sneezing in the elbow, prohibited contacts and a distance of "at least one meter" between each. employee will therefore be in force. 

Piaggio finally plans "measurements of the body temperature of employees inside factories", a procedure implemented in some Asian countries and which is also planned as part of the reopening of airports..
