"I wanted to focus on improving my bike for Austria, so I only did a few laps (with the 2020 bike, editor’s note)", confirms the Spanish rider. "It worked well, I did some good laps so we’ll see in the next test".

Rossi not particularly enthusiastic about the new engine

His teammate Valentino Rossi, 6th in these tests, for his part extensively tested the new 4-cylinder as well as the new aerodynamic appendages. The Doctor said he was delighted to have new parts to gauge – "last year they only brought one fender", he laughs! -, but is reserved on the power gain claimed…

"There isn’t much of a difference," he laments, referring to the 2020 prototype. (…) "There is still a lot to do, at all levels. Big fall by Joan Mir

Franco Morbidelli, Alex Rins and Cal Crutchlow completed the Top 5 of this day marked by the return of the showers halfway through and the big fall of Joan Mir.
