FSBK - The Championship returns to Ledenon -

For the second time this season, the French Superbike Championship stopped at Ledenon this weekend. After this fifth event, the leaders increased their lead in the provisional standings, with the exception of Olivier Four in Superbike… Summaries.

The Gard piste hosted this weekend, for the second time of the season, the French Sprint Championship. And the weather conditions once again played with the nerves of our brave pilots !

After tests disrupted by the rain on Friday morning, the competitors benefited from a frank sun on Saturday to perfect their settings and set record times during the qualifying sessions. On Sunday the sky was overcast and the atmosphere heavy but luckily the track remained dry !

On Saturday, Alexis Michel (n ° 5) took pole, improving his previous record by more than a quarter of a second (1’28.727 against 1’29.035). Behind him are Louis Rossi (n ° 69) – also under pole for the month of April – then Clement Dunikowski (n ° 180), Jimmy Petit (n ° 32), Anthony Loiseau (n ° 19), Randy Pagaud (n ° 139), Valentin Debise (n ° 163) and Nelson Major (n ° 169).

It was finally Louis Rossi who took the lead. "I got locked up at the first turn by a pilot who involuntarily cut my path !", explained Clement Dunikowski, causing trouble in the peloton made up of Loiseau, Dunikowski, Michel, Pagaud and Debise.

Louis Rossi takes advantage of the incident to distance his little comrades, soon imitated by the duo Clement Dunikowski and Alexis Michel. The two young drivers fight a superb battle and take advantage of Louis’ drop in pace to make the junction six laps from the end…

Alexis Michel and his Aprilia take the lead on the 9th lap and fly to a third victory. Slipping more and more from behind, Rossi was unable to resist Dunikowski who stole second place with two laps to go..

Fortunately for Louis, Jimmy Petit who is in 4th place is 14 seconds behind and the young French Rossi secures a fourth podium. Anthony Loiseau finished 5th ahead of Randy Pagaud, Steven Le Coquen, Erwan Quellet, Nelson Major and Valentin Debise.

In the championship, Alexis Michel consolidated his first place while Rossi took advantage of his podium – and the abandonment of Romain Maitre – to take second place in the provisional classification. Rossi, Honda rider of the France Vitesse Espoir team therefore continues to lead the Challenge de l’Avenir ahead of Randy Pagaud and Valentin Debise, respectively 4th and 5th overall..

Pirelli Junior Trophy

With a tire having already completed 37 laps of the first test session, Matthieu Lussiana (n ° 93) sets an excellent time of 1’26.731 which gives him the lead from the front row on Sunday. He is ahead of Axel Maurin (n ° 89) by more than half a second, Morgan Van Paemel (n ° 46), Nicolas Kaluzny (n ° 5), Louis Bulle (n ° 6), Étienne Masson (n ° 55), Guillaume Marcolini (n ° 58) and Nicolas Pouhair (n ° 72).

In the race, Matthieu will assert his superiority: he makes a brilliant start and lets his competitors fight for the other two places on the podium. "I managed to do everything I planned! Starting in the lead and widening the gap from the first laps … I am very satisfied with my race. With a little icing on the cake since I improved my time to 1’26.628", summarizes the Yamaha rider after the race.

Behind, the show is provided in particular by Louis Bulle whose "the ordered restraint", after his fall at Le Vigeant, did not prevent him from fighting for the podium. Because while Axel Maurin on his ZX-6R spins alone in second position, the third step of the podium arouses the envy of our pilot of the Dark Dog Academy !

So Louis Bulle is fighting with Étienne Masson, far ahead of Nicolas Pouhair 5th. It is in the last corner that everything is played between the two CBR600 RR: "his competitor, after a "manly" maneuver, will resume his place, leaving Louis at the foot of the podium", we explain at the Dark Dog team.

"The team manager Marc Fontan did not fail to instill the notions of aggressiveness now necessary for the two young people to go to fight on the front of the stage. The message is clear: win !", concludes the team of Louis and Guillaume Marcolini who finished in 7th place.

In the provisional standings, Matthieu Lussiana takes a serious option for the title with his 40 points ahead of Maurin with two races remaining! Pouhair is third ahead of Masson and the two Dark Dog Boys: Marcolini and Bulle.

600 Supersport

At the end of the tests, experience speaks: Jehan d’Orgeix on his Honda n ° 2 sets the best time in 1’25.581, barely two tenths faster than Kenny Foray on his Triumph n ° 78. Then Julien Ruiz climbs up on his Kawa n ° 15, just in front of Arnaud Vincent and his Yam … n ° 21, necessarily !

But at the end of the Superpole event, bringing together the eight fastest drivers in qualifying, it was Mathieu Andrieu (n ° 9) who set the best time (1’25.804). Less than a tenth of a second separates him from Kenny Foray while Cyril Bouffier (n ° 26), third, is relegated to more than half a second! Follow Jehan d’Orgeix, Vincent, Ruiz, Lussiana (Yann, n ° 93) and Lefort (n ° 5).

As in the Mondial Supersport (read), the French Supersport race will be contested in two rounds … The first is led with beating pace by Arnaud Vincent, but the clash between Regis Zanella and Patrick Richard will force the marshals to wave the flag red…

A second start is given: Kenny then takes the best flight but Arnaud Vincent quickly regains the lead in the race ahead of Foray, Andrieu, Marsac and D’Orgeix. The three leading men do not take long to distance D’Orgeix, soon worried by David Perret and Yann Lussiana.

In "the left that kills", Foray carries the decisive attack on Vincent who manages to barely prevent Andrieu from passing too! The pace is very strong but the classification will not change until the finish line, which Kenny Foray crosses with 2.7 seconds ahead of Arnaud Vincent and 4.7 over Mathieu Andrieu.

Behind, Yann Lussiana passed in front of Jehan d’Orgeix but David Perret was finally the fastest of the three and took fourth place in the race, four tenths ahead of the veteran of the Dark Dog team Jehan d’Orgeix. Yann Lussiana, "forced to do a disaster braking to avoid a delayed driver", finished sixth in the same second, far ahead of Cyril Bouffier, Laurent Brian, Julien Ruiz and Gregory Lefort.

Kenny Foray – who won this race with his cousin Ilann’s motorcycle! – therefore consolidates its position in the championship, recording 105 points against 75 for Arnaud Vincent and David Perret.

1000 Superbike

Patrick Piot (n ° 6) wins his third Beuchat watch on Saturday – which he will put on his ankle, then? -, offered to the best driver of the Superpole. He is ahead on the grid by Guillaume Dietrich (n ° 45), Freddy Foray (n ° 78) and David Muscat (n ° 1) who hoists his Ducati on the front row for the first time this season. !

Unfortunately for Piot, the race will be tougher: "from the given start, I felt that the win would not be at the end of this round in the Gard. The driving of the motorcycle was very limited, the fleeting rear axle, the crappy trajectories … And inevitably in these conditions, the passages in the sandboxes are a lesser evil", bitterly regrets the Power 113 Narbonne team rider.

Patrick, who had taken the lead in the first corner, was passed in the second lap by the category leader: Olivier Four. And the GMT94 pilot is slowly moving away while Guillaume Dietrich is catching up: "I let myself be locked in the second corner", Guillaume explained, doubling back to back Piot, Muscat and Nigon.

"I then climbed over the laps on Olivier Four who was leading and I passed him quite quickly. I managed to widen a good gap with very satisfactory lap times ", rejoices the Suzuki rider !

Behind these two men, the fight is raging between Muscat on his 1098, Giabbani on his ZX-10R n ° 7, Foray – Freddy – on his GSX-R1000 and Nigon on his R1 n ° 37! Piot meanwhile continues to descend in the standings and finishes in a disappointing 11th place…

Halfway through the race, Dietrich was a full second ahead of Four and seven over Foray, then isolated in third position. Nigon is in 4th place ahead of a group made up of Muscat, Metro (Ducati n ° 32) and Giabbani. David and Gwen end up overtaking Erwan, but they’re too far away to worry Foray.

Guillaume Dietrich was the first to cross the checkered flag with 3.1 seconds ahead of Olivier Four and 15.3 seconds over Freddy Foray! The suspense remains until the last corner for fourth place, finally obtained by David Muscat. Gwen Giabbani is in his rear wheel, a second ahead of Erwan Nigon. Follow Thomas Metro (Ducati), Julien Millet (Yamaha), Frederic Protat (Ducati), Denis Bouan (Yamaha), Patrick Piot (Yamaha), Stephane Duterne (MV Agusta), Anthony Delhalle (Suzuki), Cyril Huvier (Yamaha) and Lucas de Carolis (Honda).

The race for the title is therefore still very close: at the end of the first five races, only two small points separate Guillaume Dietrich and Olivier Four! On the other hand, the gap seems definitively widened on the other drivers: Bouan and Foray are tied and can still count on Piot, Giabbani and Nigon to dispute them for third place….

After their escapade in the World which prevented them from competing in the Vigeant event, the Delannoy / Cluze duo returned to Ledenon determined to take to the sea in the provisional classification…

But the first race almost gave rise to a photo finish: the Le Bail / Chaigneau (n ° 99) pair won ahead of Baer / Hullois (n ° 7) for 176 thousandths (!) And ahead of Delannoy / Cluze (n ° 1 ) to 291 thousandths !

The second race is won in a much more masterful way by the reigning champions: Delannoy and Cluze have a lead of more than 22 seconds when they cross the finish line. !

But in the end, Le Bail and Chaigneau who finished second in the second round scored more points in the championship! It is the perfect equality between the two tandems of shocks, while Baer and Hullois remain third with 36 points.
