Market reports - Back to school without surprises for the motorcycle market - Back to school without surprises

The increases in sales of motorcycles and scooters in France in September 2011 are modeled on those of the whole of the first nine months: -18.9% for the 125 cc and + 2.1% for the larger displacement. Figures, Charts and Analysis.

A return to school without surprises

Meteo France experts have qualified a posteriori – the reliability index is therefore at least 10 out of 5! – the month of September 2011 of "remarkably hot and dry". We could therefore expect, after a particularly gray and chilly summer, a rebound in sales of motorized two-wheelers….

Unfortunately, the market did not seem to benefit from these more lenient conditions. And for the third consecutive year (reread our and our), it even experienced a disappointing return to school: in September 2011, 14,884 "motorcycles and scooters over 50 cc" were registered in France, a drop of -8.8% compared to the previous year for an equal number of working days (22)…

Unlike September 2010, the results of the "small" and "large" sections are contrasted this year: the 125 cc saw their score drop by -18.9% while the large cubes managed to improve theirs by +2, 1%. The trends observed since the start of the year are therefore scrupulously confirmed..

In the 125 cc class, Yamaha stumbles without hurting themselves too much (-19.6%), Honda and Piaggio do not relax their efforts (-11 and -14%), Peugeot and Suzuki appear to be good students (-5 , 8 and -7.7%) and only KTM gets the congratulations … thanks to its cheat sheet Duke 125 (+ 295%!).

On the side of "more than 125 cc", Honda and BMW appear as the first in class (+17.1 and + 18.7%), followed by Ducati, Kawasaki and Suzuki (respectively +5.9, +3.9 and + 3.3%) … Good results to be confirmed of course next month !

On the other hand, Yamaha (-4.7%), Harley-Davidson (-9.3%), Triumph (-9.1%) and KTM (-12.7%) have started this “school” season less well. "Western" brands, in particular, will be careful not to start again: 2011 promises to be a record year for them. !
