The motorcycle market at -4.2%

At the end of this first quarter of 2012, 37,944 registrations of motorcycles (motorcycles and scooters of 125 cc and more) had been recorded in France. Compared to the first quarter of 2011, this translates into a moderate drop of -4.2% (read our).

Braked for more than a year by the compulsory 7-hour training for "first-time buyers", sales of 125 cc in France reached 11,400 units in the first quarter of 2012, against 13,729 last year over the same first three months. . The drop in pace is therefore -17%.

The main players in this sector are down and only KTM managed to explode its sales by + 123% compared to the first quarter of 2011, thanks to its Duke 125. Another manufacturer is in the green on the MNC control panel: Sym, but narrowly with an increase of + 0.2% !

As for the big cars, the results are much more contrasted and the landscape partially redrawn. If Yamaha still dominates at the end of this first quarter (+ 1.6% compared to last year), Honda (+ 15.3%) this time dominates Kawasaki (-13.9%), and BMW ( + 22.1%) Suzuki tax (-4.9%) !

Harley-Davidson is increasing its market share a little further (+ 5.6% in volume) while Triumph plunges (-28.3%) and KTM is holding up (+ 1.9%). Ducati signs an encouraging + 29.1% and Gas Gas (+ 4.5%) once again closes the Top 10.
