In September 2018, 14,160 motorcycles and scooters of 125 cc and more (excluding mopeds therefore) were registered in France. There were 12,395 last year over the same period, an increase of + 14.2% – in contrast to the -12.8% drop observed in the passenger car market, according to the CCFA.

Several factors led to this new improvement in the motorcycle market in France. First of all, Site remembers the weather: radiant, it visibly encouraged many bikers and scooter riders to visit their – new? – dealer to acquire a brand new two-wheeler.

"The high pressure conditions persisted in France during this month of September, reports Meteo France in its own report for this new school year in 2018," accompanied by warm temperatures and exceptional sunshine. The rainfall was very low ".

The presence and late arrival of important novelties also favored business. It is among the 125 that this phenomenon is most noticeable, with the renewal of several "top" models: the entire sector benefits, with a jump in registrations of + 23.9% !

Among the top ten 125 manufacturers, only KTM did not manage to beat its score last year (-15%), but the leader Honda exploded its counter (+ 46%) and participates for half of the increase of the sector, leaving behind its great rival Yamaha (+ 2%).

If the big cubes have progressed in a more measured way (+ 9.0%), they also deserve the congratulations of the MNC jury since they improve their score despite a slightly unfavorable calendar: September 2018 had one working day less than in 2017 (20 Vs 21) and one less dealership opening day (21 Vs 22).

Within the Top 10 manufacturers, the four leaders are accelerating (Yamaha + 17%, Honda + 23%, BMW + 10% and Kawasaki + 17%) but Harley is slowing down (-5%), Triumph and KTM "are growing" (+9 and + 7%) while Suzuki and Ducati loose (-21% and -28%) and Piaggio slips (-2%).
