To celebrate its 60th anniversary, Yamaha is relying on its traditional yellow and black livery – used in the past by its American competition department – and unveiled for this purpose a MotoGP M1 "60th anniversary" in then one at the Si only Rossi and Lorenzo will be able to pilot the first, the second will be available in December in dealerships !

At Yamaha, a limited-series R1 can hide another !

Unsurprisingly, Yamaha sells in "limited quantities" coated with its beautiful yellow and black decoration seen on the motorcycles of its official teams (GM94 and YART). Recognizable also by its golden rims, this historic livery has already been used in the past on limited editions of XJR and MT-01, but also on R1s in the mid-2000s….

This R1 "60 anniversary" will be technically identical to the production version, except for an Akrapovic silencer installed in addition. Its price and quantity imported into France have not been communicated, but MNC is investigating: stay tuned !

In addition, following the success of the R1M, Yamaha is relaunching the production of this high-end version of its new Hypersport, marketed last year in small quantities around the world, including around 100 copies in France (read our).

As before, this vintage 2016 R1M will be built in limited quantities and only available to order via an online registration system. "Customer inquiries will be accepted from October 1," says Yamaha.

In short, first come, first served! This initiative will delight fans who missed out on the first "batch", but on the contrary risks frustrating those who fell for this "M" model precisely for its rarity …

For the record, the R1M differs from the standard by its – even – more advanced electronics, its specific Bridgestone tires, its Ohlins electronically adjustable suspensions and its gray and blue carbon fairing. A real track beast on which MNC almost put his elbow during his press presentation !

All its "racing" equipment inevitably generates an additional price, quite reasonable considering their added value, of € 4,500: € 22,999 for the R1M against € 18,499 for the standard, only available in blue “Race Blu” or in red.

To make the most of it, its owners can participate in specific Yamaha Racing Experience track days, coached last year by former MotoGP rider Colin Edwards, always "green" as he is in charge of developing the Michelin on Rossi motorcycles and Lorenzo !
