KTM 690 Duke 2012 (690 cc, 68 hp, 150 kg without petrol – € 7,490, January 2012)

Unveiled in preview through an appetizer video, the 690 Duke is the main novelty of KTM 2012 (read in particular).

Redesigned taking inspiration from the small 125 Duke, the Duke 690 is less exclusive than before: the driving position would be closer to that of a roadster, the saddle – now in two parts – is lowered by 30 mm and an ABS is even part of the standard equipment.

The single cylinder is boosted to 68 hp and takes place in the ultra-sharp cycle part of the Duke 690 R (WP suspensions, Brembo radial brakes …).

A double ignition and a Ride By Wire type accelerator have also been added to the 690 cc LC4, whose service intervals increase to 10,000 km.

KTM 200 Duke 2012 (200 cc, 26 hp, 126 kg empty – € 4,290, available N.C.)

Announced by Reinhold Zens, the president of KTM France, during, the 200 Duke takes again the excellent cycle part of the small orange 125 cc in which is inserted the same 4-stroke single cylinder bored to 200 cc.

Assembled by the Indian Bajaj (shareholder of KTM), this small 126 kg roadster logically receives larger valves, cylinder and piston as well as new camshafts. The air box and the exhaust have also undergone modifications compared to those of the 125 Duke.

KTM 990 Super Duke R (999 cc, 98 hp, 186 kg without gasoline – € 12,990, January 2012)

A real big gas factory reserved for those nervous about the right grip, the 990 Super Duke did not evolve either technically or aesthetically in 2012.

On the other hand, thrill seekers will be delighted to learn that the R version, the even more racing version of this 98 hp roadster (read our), now has a passenger seat and footrests. Muscular walks in anticipation !

KTM 690 SMC R 2012 (690 cc, 67 hp, 142 kg without petrol – € 8,690, January 2012)

Aesthetically, this variation of the 690 SMC addresses a new headlight plate as well as a fender and redesigned radiator vents, while the saddle is advertised "more comfortable and lower" (925 mm anyway).

The generous 48mm fork and the WP mono-shock absorber (adjustable in slow and fast compression) deliver firmer settings, while the light wire spoked wheels, specifically developed for this 690 SMC R accommodate Conti AttackSM tubeless tires..

Mechanically, the 690 SMC R also evolves significantly since its LC4 single-cylinder (the same as that of the new Duke 690 shown below) displays four additional horsepower. Either a 67 hp cavalry to propel the only 142 kg of this Supermotard as explosive and sassy … as it is exclusive and expensive (€ 8,690) !

KTM 690 Enduro R 2012 (690 cc, 142 kg without petrol – € 8,590, January 2012)

The versatile 690 Enduro is ramping up in 2012 with this "R" version equipped with optimized suspensions and a more powerful mono (67 hp) which offers the driver three injection mappings.

The lines are also getting a facelift (the tank trim has been notably redesigned), while the ergonomics have been revised for more comfort: the saddle is lower and the handlebars more inclined towards the rear..

KTM 990 SM R 2012 (999 cc, 98 ch, 192 kg without petrol – € 11,490, January 2012)

A real push-to-crime, the 990 SM R is a joyful mix of supermoto, trail and roadster (read our).

Particularly playful, this Austrian powered by the 98 hp V-twin KTM adopts Bosch ABS in 2012 on its Brembo monobloc calipers.

This safety equipment weighs only one kilo the featherweight of this formidable collector swallower (192 kg).

KTM Freeride 350 (349.7 cc, 24 hp, 99.5 kg without petrol, € 7,190, January 2012)

Discovered a little before the 2011 Milan Motor Show (read), the Freeride 350 is undoubtedly the most striking novelty of the 2012 KTM off-road range (read in particular our).

Unlike its more exclusive siblings, this Freeride 350 deviates significantly from the paths beaten by KTM and its famous "Ready To Race": a kind of Enduro for all, it adopts a 24 hp injected mono derived from the 350 EXC- F who wants to be easier to manage.

Quieter and less polluting too, since this 2012 novelty is adorned with two catalyzed silencers.

Small (1418 mm wheelbase and 99.5 kg without gasoline) and relatively accessible (895 mm saddle height), the Freeride 350 exhibits a perimeter frame made of steel and aluminum alloy and the usual White Power suspensions (WP) specific to fully adjustable KTMs.

KTM Freeride E (electric, up to 30 hp, 95 kg empty, price and availability N.C)

Originally scheduled for spring 2011 (read in particular), the marketing of the first electric KTM off-roaders is finally postponed to a later date…

Taking advantage of this ignition delay to refine its Freeride E, the Orange brand presented at the EICMA in Milan a more accomplished version of the prototype discovered at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show in 2010..

Capable of developing up to 30 hp and 42 Nm of torque, this electric motorcycle receives a cycle part of the serious kind: perimeter steel frame with forged aluminum elements, WP suspensions, Wave brake discs and radial calipers.

According to the Austrian manufacturer, it could be used from 45 to 60 minutes once its lithium-ion battery has been recharged for an hour and a half: values which could meet the needs of "leisure" use … if they are verified in real conditions, of course !

As for the price, KTM France told us that the objective is to offer "the Freeride E at a price roughly equivalent to a normal KTM all-terrain motorcycle". That is to say around 7000 to 8000 euros, if we consider that the announced performances of this Freeride E bring it closer to a 125 cc of the brand.
