News - First official info on the 2010 Triumph Sprint GT - Used TRIUMPH

A few days before the launch of the Triumph Sprint GT 1050, Site obtained the technical sheet and several photos of this slightly redesigned ST for more road convenience. Discovery !

Surprised during its finalization phase in March (read), the new sportivo-road from the manufacturer of Hinckley has just been unveiled at a British dealership.

The price and availability of this Triumph Sprint GT 1050 in France are still unknown, but Site can already disclose most of the technical details and lines of this "real-fake novelty".

First of all, the Triumph Sport-GT will not upset the motorcycling landscape with its originality since it is ultimately only a revisited Sprint ST. Apart from the new trim (new design for the optics and the side fairing openings, while the triple exhaust outlet gives way to an element in the low position) and the slight increase in efficiency of the excellent three-leg in line (+3 hp and 3 Nm of torque, or 130 hp and 108 Nm in Full), the Sprint GT 2010 visually differs little from the ST 1050.

No gimbal or switch to 1200 cc or electronic debauchery, but an openly more road orientation: Triumph announces having favored the practical aspects and the comfort of this Sprint GT 1050 rather than its "sporty" behavior. A choice similar to that of the benchmark in the category: the Honda VFR (read our and our).

Thus, if the physiognomy and the chassis barely change (perimeter frame and single-sided aluminum, adjustable Showa suspensions and Nissin axially fixed brakes), the Sprint GT nevertheless carries a standard ABS, side cases of 31 liters each. (a large top case is available as an option) and a 12 volt outlet. It also takes care of the reception via a saddle placed 20 mm lower (815 mm against 835 mm).

According to the first information disclosed by the official English site of Triumph, this Sprint GT would ostensibly favor stability over agility since the wheelbase would lengthen by 27 mm (1537 mm against 1510 mm on the ST) and the ‘caster angle would go from 23.2 to 23.5 °.

Hopefully these changes will not harm the appreciable dynamism of the Englishwoman too much, especially since she would display a weight significantly higher (268 kg)..

Available in England in blue or silver, this Sprint GT 1050 would therefore be a simple variation of the ST with more marked road claims. It remains to discover the last details of this overhaul, its price (12,290 euros currently for the ST), its availability in France and the effects of these changes during a full test Site: stay tuned !
