First round of new Honda 2010

News - First round of Honda 2010 new products - Roadsters: take the same ones and start over!

Honda presents its first new products for 2010 with some evolutions and new colors: scooters SH125i and SH300i, 125 Varadero, custom Shadow Spirit 750 ABS, roadsters CB1000R and CBF600N and S and sports CBR600RR and 1000 Fireblade. Discovery.

Roadsters: take the same ones and start over !

Eagerly awaited by a large proportion of users who favor roadsters, the 2010 Honda models – unfortunately – show very few changes….

Not that the CB1000R, the CB600F N and S and the CB600F Hornet suffer from crippling defects, on the contrary. But the lines of the medium displacement of the winged crest are often considered too wise against the Yamaha XJ6, Kawasaki Z 750 and ER-6, Suzuki GSR and other Triumph Street Triple…

Crisis requires, Honda therefore seems to be cautious in its choices for the future. A decision leading to the extension of the renewal cycles of its products – a pledge of significant savings in R&D -, but also of a rather unprecedented reflection at the first manufacturer: after having defended to body and cry the merits – verified – of the ‘ABS, Honda informs us that the CBF600 N will now only be available with unassisted braking in France !

The reasons for what could be considered a slight step backwards? "Firstly a question of cost: without ABS, the 600 CBF will be more economically competitive in its segment", informs Sebastien Pernel of the Honda France press service."Secondly, it appears that customers attracted by ABS in the roadster category are mostly going for versions offering protection against the elements. As a result, only the S version of the CBF600 will be fitted with Honda Combined ABS.".

Apart from this precision, the efficient CBFs do not know any evolution and will be available in January 2010 in white, green or black (in Naked version) and in October 2009 in white, green or black (in S version). On the price side, Honda France is currently unable to confirm that the € 5,990 requested for the CBF600 N and the € 6,990 requested for the CBF600 S ABS remain valid….

Equipped this year with adjustable suspensions (read our test), the 600 Hornet will not experience any technical or aesthetic changes for 2010. So much for the – many – fans of the Honda hornet who expected a redesign inspired by the charismatic CB1000R…

Attractive and collected on itself, the big sporty roadster from the first manufacturer inaugurates two new color variations, including an attractive red-black version with painted frame, called Rouge X. A classy beige tone (only on the version without ABS) completes the color palette where black and white are kept.

The beautiful continues its four-cylinder 998 cc as it is, delivering 125 fiery horsepower at 10,000 rpm and 99 Nm of torque at 7,750 rpm in the full power version. Available from September, the 2010 CB1000R will unfortunately experience an inflation of € 300: it goes to € 11,390 without ABS and € 11,990 with brake assist: no glop…
