News - New Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 and Moto Guzzi V7 Racer - Pre-owned APRILIA MOTO GUZZI

The Piaggio group did not wait for the Cologne show to present two of its new 2011 models: the Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 and the Moto Guzzi V7 Racer. The two Italian motorcycle brands are also releasing Airbag jackets. Presentations.

The Piaggio group inaugurated its new boutique in the heart of Milan the day before yesterday with great fanfare: "Spazio Broletto 13". Roberto Colaninno, CEO of Piaggio Group, welcomed his favorite driver, Max Biaggi, and the mayor of Milan, Ms. Letizia Moratti..

To mark the occasion, Piaggio (Derbi, Vespa, Aprilia and Moto Guzzi) presented a preview of the next Intermot show in Cologne its first two novelties for 2011: the Dorsoduro 1200 and the V7 Racer !

Aprilia Dorsoduro "Grande"

A little over a year ago, Marcel Driessen (then Managing Director of Piaggio France before leaving for BMW) already confirmed to Site readers the arrival of a new V1200 at Aprilia: "there will be a Dorsoduro 1200 and also a Shiver 1200! We hope to be able to present them to you in 2010, but this is not yet confirmed ", he delivered….

It is now a thing – half – done, since the Dorsoduro 1200 will indeed invest the podiums of the Cologne show from October 6 to 10, 2010 before landing in the French Aprilia dealerships "at the end of October".

For the big Shiver, on the other hand, it will be necessary to be a little more patient and wait for the EICMA show in Milan (from November 4 to 10) … or a little more? … The managers of the brand remain silent. Case to follow on Site !

Leader of the pilot and constructor championships in the World Superbike, new holder of the number of victories in Grand Prix for a manufacturer – "European" only, because Honda and Yamaha remain far ahead, no offense to the Piaggio press officials who are a bit chauvinistic! – Aprilia can afford to run mechanical.

It is therefore without complex that the Noale brand places its new Dorsoduro 1200 "at the top of the maxi Supermotard segment" usually trusted by KTM and Ducati.

To make fun of the KTM Supermoto and Ducati Hypermotard, Aprilia engineers were inspired by their 750 cc twin-cylinder: V2 at 90 °, liquid cooling, double overhead camshaft, four valves per cylinder, dual ignition, electronic ride-on injection. by-wire, three maps to choose from…

Already seen, except that in this 1200 cc version, Noale’s twin spits 130 horsepower at 8700 rpm and 115 Nm 1500 rpm earlier (against 92 hp and 82 Nm for the "seven-and-a-half"). In the Supermoto category, the transalpins even boast of reaching "an indisputable record" !

It is true that the Katoche Supermoto mill develops "only" 118 hp for 97 Nm and that of the Ducat ‘Hypermotard 1100 Evo produces "only" 95 hp and 103 Nm … But for respective displacements of 999 and 1078 cc !

In addition, the Testratetta of the Multistrada produces a maximum power of 150 hp and a maximum torque of 118.7 Nm … Aprilia will have to review its sales pitch if its cousin from Bologna ever released a Hypemotard 1200…

Side cycle – and aesthetic -, the Dorsoduro 1200 is an almost identical copy of its little sister: "hybrid" frame (steel trellis then aluminum) in which the new engine had to fit in the shoehorn, Showa fork of 43 mm (fully adjustable), Sachs shock (fully adjustable with separate cylinder) that attaches directly to an all-aluminum swingarm, 320mm Brembo front brakes with radial-mounted 4-piston calipers and 240mm single-piston l ‘back.

Like the Dorsoduro 750, the 1200 will be available with ABS but the big sister will benefit from new equipment: ATC or Aprilia Traction Control which "allows the rider to fully exploit the power of the engine and the grip of the tires. in order to take advantage of the incredible driving pleasure offered by this motorcycle whatever the driving conditions ", promise the Italians.

May the aces of handlebars and gliding – as well as lovers of slopes and ravines – rest assured: the two piloting aids can be disconnected !

Although the prices of these novelties have not yet been validated, Piaggio France estimates that the price of the Dorsoduro should be below the 11,700 euros mark … 11,699 €? Site will not fail to keep you informed !

Sparkling Moto Guzzi V7

At Moto Guzzi, a novelty for 2011 is also preparing to land this fall with this new version of the small V7, a particularly shiny "Racer" version !

The myth of the V7 Sport of the 60s and 70s is still firmly anchored in the biker imagination and the Italians of the Piaggio group know it very well: since the release in 2007 of the "new" V7, they use – and abuse? – of this major asset.

This fall and in 2011 therefore, fans of the Mandello del Lario brand will be able to fall for this V7 Racer, a new "numbered" edition..

All in chrome with its carefully brushed aluminum parts, the new Moto Guzzi sports a red frame and swingarm that pays homage to the first 150 examples of the original V7 Sport, while its nose screen evokes the Gambalunga, a 500 post-war competition.

"Technically, the V7 racer retains the winning formula of the V7 Cafe", sums up Moto Guzzi: 744 cc V-twin (49 hp and 58.2 Nm), 5-speed gearbox, double-cradle steel frame, 40-inch Marzocchi fork mm, light alloy swingarm, fully adjustable Bitubo dual shocks, 320mm front disc and 260mm rear disc.

Despite its sporty look and its Pirelli Demon Sport footwear, the new V7 Racer will prefer the big arsouilles on the circuit to nice trips on departmental roads. Finally, French officials assure that the new Moto Guzzi will cost less than 9,300 euros.

And paf the biker !

Parallel to the presentation of these two new models 2011, Aprilia and Moto Guzzi in their turn launch after Piaggio (read) "their" Airbag jackets.

Based on the observation that "in the majority of accidents involving two wheels, the driver is ejected from his vehicle or finds himself slipping on the road before hitting an obstacle", the Italians have adopted the patented Motoairbag system created by DPI Safety.

Connected to his vehicle by a 40 cm cable, the driver is protected in the event of a fall by a long back protector which inflates "in 80/85 milliseconds". Cervicals, spine and coccyx would thus be protected from hard blows. Note that a tension of about 11 to 15 kg is necessary to trigger the airbag: the stunned have a certain margin before toasting a CO2 cartridge each time they get off their mount. !

"It is the only Airbag system to be CE certified under standard EN 1621/2: 2003, in line with the future prEN1621 / 4. It is also the only one that delivers an impact absorption level of 0 , 9 kN (as a reference, the best rigid backbones, Level 2 certified, deliver an impact absorption level of 9 kN) ", specifies the manufacturer.

Aprilia customers are therefore offered a black and red Aprilia "sporty cut" jacket, and those of Moto Guzzi a more discreet mid-length jacket, like the more urban one already presented by the Piaggio brand..

Available "from September", the two new jackets benefit from introductory prices: € 549 (instead of 590) for the Aprilia jacket and € 599 (instead of 649) for the Moto Guzzi jacket.
