News - New Ducati Superbike: the 1199 Panigale - Used Ducati

The first image and the first video of Ducati’s future sports car have just been released, along with its official name: the 1199 Panigale. To fully discover it, however, we will have to wait for the Milan Motor Show…. Patience therefore !

Since last June, our colleagues in the Italian press knew the 1198 was about to be replaced by a brand new model, in particular with a new frame and a twin-cylinder with super-hyper-mega-square dimensions ( read)…

Failing to deny or confirm this technical information, the Italian brand has expertly edited a video on its next Superbike – tested and validated by Troy Bayliss Himself! -, published a single snapshot of the beast and revealed its final name: 1199 Panigale.

"Pronounced "Panigale", the new model breaks with the Ducati Superbike tradition by adding a name to the displacement of its engine (eleven ninety nine)", comments Ducati,"a significant and historical association of Ducati with the Borgo Panigale district, in Bologna".

"In an Italian territory recognized as the "Valley of Motorists", and where the passion for racing and performance runs in everyone’s veins", continue the very inspired Reds,"Ducati proudly underlines its role of ambassador of "Made in Italy" all over the world by immortalizing the name of their hometown with that of the new Superbike".

The manufacturer also specifies that, in accordance with its development program, its next sports car will not enter the World Superbike arena until 2013. According to Ducati, this will allow its "Panigale" to be perfectly "suitable for the more open regulations of the Superbike category".

"In addition, this will allow teams engaged in the Superbike World Championship to better control costs by aligning with a 2012 version of the 1198 with the support of engineers from the Ducati factory.".

However, we will see the new Ducati running on the track next season, as as a tune-up, "the Ducati 1199 Panigale will first be entered in the 2012 Superstock World Championship". Before that, the beautiful – we hope at least! – will turn on the podiums of the EICMA 2011 Show which will be held in Milan from November 10 to 13 … Stay tuned !
