New motorcycle: price, performance and availability of the MT-10

Yamaha gets up – finally! – the veil on the figures relating to its most impactful novelty in 2016: the MT-10. This sporty roadster directly derived from the latest generation of R1 develops some 160.4 hp at 11,500 rpm and 111 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm, i.e. 40 hp and 1.4 Nm less than the Superbike.

The most efficient of Japanese maxi-roadsters

We can bet that the Iwata engine manufacturers will have taken advantage of this deflation to further increase the low and mid-range punch of the 4-cylinder Cross Plane! With its values, the Yam ‘roadster is aligned with the (160 hp and 112 Nm) and is on par with the exclusive (160 hp and 131.4 Nm).

The MT-10 is placed directly as the new reference from Japan since it sticks about fifteen horses (145 hp and respectively 111 and 106 Nm). The excellent – but aging – Honda CB1000R and its 125 hp is far behind, on a purely technical level…

On the other hand, the new Yamaha will not dominate the "top guns" of the category in terms of pure performance: the (173 hp) and the (175 hp).

Its short chassis derived from the R1, its contained weight (210 kg all full) and its many electronic aids should however allow it to have a say in the virolous face of the Austrian and Italian cavalry. !

Availability end of May 

The price of the new MT-10 is set at € 13,199 – far from the € 16,100 of the Katoche! – and its arrival in dealerships is scheduled for "end of May" 2016. With its radical style and explosive performance, the Yamaha is likely to disturb the segment of very sporty roadsters. To the delight of thrill seekers !
