Royal Enfiel had promised: 2016 would be the year of new products – something not so common for the Indian manufacturer! – with in particular a new single-cylinder engine of 410 cc and a new twin-cylinder of 750 cc. The Himalayan, a new mid-capacity trail, is the first motorcycle to introduce mono.

Unveiled through videos shot during its dynamic tests, the new Royal Enfield Himalayan uses fairly basic technical solutions (steel cradle frame, single front disc, telescopic fork), faithful to the spirit of robustness and simplicity of Indian builder.

The frame was developed by the English brand Harris Performance, and the suspensions seem to have generous travel.

In accordance with Madras (India) brand standards, the lines are openly classic with a round headlight topped with a windshield, a two-stage saddle and a square tail light.

According to several Indian media, the new single cylinder discovered on this Royal Enfield Himalayan would develop between 25 and 27 hp and around 30 Nm of torque. Its cooling would be provided by an air-oil system, as on the previous generation of BMW Boxer. The official presentation of the bike would take place in early February.
