News - New Triumph 2016: the Street Triple will change range ... - Used TRIUMPH

Imitated and jostled by the Yamaha MT-09 and MV Agusta Brutale 800, the Street Triple 675 is about to raise the tone! According to our colleagues at MCN, Triumph has worked on a more muscular, varied and complete range… To discover at the exhibitions at the end of 2015 ?

In our last, the CEO of Triumph France underlined the transitional aspect of 2015 for the English brand. After a slightly negative first half despite – or thanks to – the redesign of the Tiger 800s, Jean-Luc Mars announced a "very dense second half!"

Forced to remain silent on the new motorcycles to come from across the Channel (and?), The big boss of Triumph in France was nevertheless very enthusiastic: "we are impatiently awaiting the autumn show season!" .. The Hinckley firm should indeed be re-branded there !

Triumph document top, not secret

Our British colleagues from MCN have put the mouse on a document detailing very precisely the future range of Street Triple. As a reminder, today’s one revolves around the 675 cc 3-cylinder and includes three roadster models: standard, R and RX (read).

Tomorrow – in 2016, most certainly -, the Street Triple will integrate a larger engine – "more than 750 cc", indicates the Triumph file – developing between 110 and 125 horsepower depending on the version: standard and R always, but also RT and RS !

A new 3-cylinder 800 ?

With Honda – and its -, Triumph was one of the last motorcycle manufacturers to offer a true mid-size. But given galloping inflation (,,, and, "of course"), the Hinckley firm is almost forced to increase the displacement of its Street Triple.

Currently cubing 675 cc, the small English 3-cylinder will very soon see its displacement climb beyond 750 cc. Of course, Triumph has been offering an 800 cc "Tripeul" on its Tiger since 2012, but Site imagines – and hopes! – that the English did not content themselves with fitting this engine in their "mid-size" roadster.

Because if the 800, based on the current 675 and sharing the same bore, has a round and docile character that is well suited to Triumph trails, it would lack character and spice on a Street Triple or its sporty version. RT, on the other hand, would get along rather well…

Did the British engineers rode their 800 "big race" in the new Street Triple? Or could they have rebored the 675 to give birth to a new, even more aggressive engine? Answers to follow on Site of course: stay connected !

The "table-which-unfortunately-leaked-on-the-canvas" lists with astonishing precision the points distinguishing the next four Street Triple…

And so that our non-English speaking readers can take full advantage of it, MNC – Site, not to be confused with MCN, Motorcycle News! – concocted a little lexicon at the bottom of the page.

We learn firstly that the Street Triple "short" will receive ABS as standard as well as a new traction control which legitimizes the slight price increase from £ 7499 (€ 10,745) currently to £ 7790 (€ 11,160). Its power will be limited to around 110 hp, but this will force Triumph to keep a 90 hp Street Triple (in 675 or "800" cc?) To offer A2 licenses a version limited to 35 kW.

In its R version, the new Street Triple will once again swap non-adjustable Kayaba forks and axially-mounted Nissin brake calipers for adjustable Showa and one-piece Nissin radial-mount calipers. LCD type on the standard, the dashboard will switch to high definition TFT. For £ 1,000 more (€ 1,430), the "R" will also benefit from three driving modes.

And for an additional £ 1000 (€ 1430), customers will be treated to a brand new semi-faired version, "photo-mounted" by MCN designers. Called RT, the Street Triple will also have a host of accessories included as standard, aiming to make it a real small road (lower fairing optional, see below).

Finally, "last but not least" or last but not least: the Street Triple RS, which takes the suffix of a Sprint marketed in the early 2000s. This sportier version takes the paraphernalia of the R and adds two driving modes – including a "Track" (track in French) – and an on-board stopwatch.

So there will be sport at the Street Triple! But also tourism and, as always, urban !

While waiting for the official presentations of the new Street Triple at the Milan and Paris shows, the MT-09 and its Tracer version, as well as the Brutale 800 and its Stradale and Turismo Veloce versions are preparing sleepless nights, migraines and brief nerves. … To be continued on Site: stay tuned !
