Revealed during the summer of 2011 following "leaks" during a KTM convention (read), the new 1190 Adventure 2013 is revealed a little more before its probable presentation at the Intermot motorcycle show in Cologne in early October…

According to information from an official brochure discovered on the forum, the 1190 Adventure would be powered by an 1195 cc V-twin – arguably a reworked version of the RC8R’s LC8 – advertised for 150 hp.

This 2013 novelty would therefore not use a new 1290 cc engine, as it was. At least not yet, since this new twin should end up on the new 2014 Super Duke according to the schedule "involuntarily" unveiled by KTM !

On the other hand, the Adventure 2013 engine receives many electronic upgrades: an electronic Ride-by-Wire accelerator, five selectable injection maps (including one dedicated to off-road excursions) and above all traction control, a first on a KTM! A combined ABS also offering a TT mode will also be on the menu..

The lines of the KTM 1190 Adventure 2013 are less typical rally-raid than those of the current Adventure 990: the trim, in particular, is much less enveloping on the lower part of the motorcycle, exposing the usual chassis tubular type dear to the Orange brand. It remains to be seen whether it is a sophistication adopted in series or an option reserved for the 1190 Adventure R, the "upgraded" version which will undoubtedly not fail to accompany the "basic" Adventure..

The 2013 Adventure will stand out !

More powerful 35 hp and more sophisticated, the new 1190 Adventure 2013 is full of arguments to cut croupiers to the references of the trail-road segment (read our).

But this increase in power has an impact on the scale since KTM announces a full weight of 235 kg, or about 5 kg more than the current Adventure 990. A significant weight even if some of its rivals are overweight otherwise more pronounced: 259 kg for the Explorer and 275 kg for the Crosstourer.

Except that the Triumph and the Honda carry a transmission by shaft and universal joints, while the Katoche renews a final transmission by chain moderately appreciated on this type of motorcycle dedicated to the slaughter of kilometers…
