News - RC125, RC200 and RC390: three sports news from KTM - Three small sports motorcycles from KTM

KTM lifted the veil this summer on a new but long awaited motorcycle: the RC 390, then reserved for use on the track. At Milan’s EICMA, the orange brand presents its road-approved version, accompanied by its little sisters RC 125 and RC 200.

Three small sports motorcycles at KTM

Exhibited last year in the form of one, the Superduke 1290 R (and very soon to be tested!) Is not the only star of the KTM stand at the EICMA in Milan: three new sports bikes from the firm of Mattighofen also crackle visitors’ flashes !

Although there is no question of overpowering "Superbike" or radical "Supersport" strictly speaking, the KTM RC 125, RC 200 and RC 390 arouse curiosity, in particular thanks to – or because of! – their little face composed of two small lenses and a small beak.

The integration of the indicators is quite successful: the front ones hide on the mirror rods, while the rear ones barely protrude from the number plate holder. On a more global level, the three small RCs cannot deny their affiliation with the RC8R: each will have his own idea.

From a mechanical point of view, the three small sports are closely related to the Duke, so much so that it is quicker to evoke the few points that distinguish them..

Aside from the trimmings – naturlich … -, we note on the data sheets a reduction in the caster angle and the front travel: 23.5 ° on the RC against 25 ° on the Duke and 125 mm against 150, in order to facilitate the work of the pilot on the handlebars – on both half-handlebars! – sportswomen in winding sections or in town.

The saddle is a little higher on the three sports cars (820 mm instead of 800 on the three roadsters), but the tank should be thinner … Otherwise, why limit their capacity to around 10 liters, against 11 on the versions "naked" ?!

On the engine side, the maximum values are scrupulously preserved: the 124.7 cc single-cylinder still develops 15 horsepower at 9500 rpm and 12 Nm 1500 rpm earlier, while the 199.5 cc one produces 26 hp at 10 00 rpm / min (!) and 19.5 Nm at 8000 rpm.

Restricted to 38 horsepower on the, the 372.3 cc single cylinder regains its 44 hp and 35 Nm on the RC 390 "road". Moderate power and maximum torque for a weight that is just as much: 147 kg dry (137.5 kg for the RC 200 and 135 kg for the RC125).

All three fitted with ABS as standard, the KTM sports news are expected in the from the second half of 2014 onwards as we hope very low too … MNC is investigating: stay tuned !
