2010 Superbike world champion, Aprilia unveils a new RSV4 Factory today in Cologne. With this version called Aprilia Performance Ride Control Special Edition, traction, wheelings, starts and gearshifts are under control. !

21,999 euros at the end of October

Aprilia RSV 4 Factory APRC SE will be available from the end of October at the price of € 21,999 incl. .

In order to properly celebrate these victories, the Noale manufacturer presents today at the Cologne Intermot Show a new version of its RSV4 Factory: the ARPC SE (for "Aprilia Performance Ride Control Special Edition", you will understand)…

Aprilia and Biaggi champions: request the special edition !

A new Superbike is therefore displayed alongside the 2011 novelties previously unveiled on the Site: the Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 and the Moto Guzzi V7 Racer (read). The managers of the Piaggio group also take the opportunity to deliver the official prices of their new motorcycles: as expected, the V7 will cost "less than 9,300 €"(€ 9299) and the Dorsoduro 1200 will do well"below € 11,700"(€ 11,690) with an additional € 1,200 for the ABS-ATC option.

"Like the RSV4 Factory APRC, these two new products will be available in France at the end of the month.", specify our interlocutors, just before revealing the price of their last little gem: € 21,999…

Externally, this special edition APRC does not differ greatly from the Factory: it features the all-aluminum frame and swingarm, the 65 ° V-shaped four-cylinder developing 180 hp and 115 Nm, the fully adjustable Ohlins suspensions, the “Brembo approved” braking, carbon parts, Supersport size and weight (179 kg empty). In short, the engineers kept the winning recipe.

However, the Italians could not do without a new color, embellished with some evocative inscriptions: an Italian flag on the lower part of the fairing, a No. 3 "Limited" followed by the name of the Roman Emperor on the backsplash of saddle and a gold olive oar proudly encircling a world champion’s "Uno Number" on the tank. Ma que, the class !

Rarer will be the visitors who, at first glance, will have noticed the presence of a 200 mm rear tire instead of the 190 mm fitted as standard on the Factory or R versions. On the other hand, it will be easier to notice the arrival of a new pot that Aprilia announces "lighter".

But it will be necessary to show a rather keen sense of observation to detect the toothed crown that adorns the front rim of the 2011 novelty: would ABS make its appearance on the Aprilia Superbike? Well no, not at the moment! In fact, this new tool is used for traction control, one of the four invisible innovations of this "ARPC".

"All the know-how and insights gathered during the successful season of world champion Max Biaggi have been compiled into a motorcycle that sets a new standard for the development of future road motorcycles.", proudly announce the engineers of Noale.

APRC = ATC + ALC + AWC + AQS (CDFD!)

Thus, the mysterious APRC includes in particular a new traction control system called ATC (Aprilia Traction Control). Adjustable in eight positions by means of triggers located on the left stalk, it would have a definite advantage over the competition…

"A pilot-activated procedure allows the system to integrate the tire size and final transmission ratio used, in order to better fine-tune slip control", reveals Aprilia. The six-inch rear rim can indeed accommodate tires of 200/55 or 190/55, but also a tire lower than 190/50. The bike can therefore take this into account, as it will hold. also includes rear crown or gearbox output pinion changes.

Gearbox side precisely, this new RSV4 "APRC" inaugurates new ratios on the first three reports: 38/16 for the first, 35/18 for the second and 28/17 for the third (against 39/15, 33 / 16 and 34/20 for the Factory version).

In addition to its slightly longer developments, this "special" RSV4 Factory benefits from a gadget that could prove to be very interesting on the track: assistance at the start. Max Biaggi has stood out several times this year with his thunderous takeoffs: well in 2011, it will be the turn of Aprilia customers !

Assuming – proven – that "getting off to a good start often means victory is only halfway through", Aprilia fitted its latest RSV4 with an ALC (Aprilia Launch Control". Three modes are selectable and locking is done when stationary by simultaneously pressing the two triggers of the Traction Control. Then, you "just" have to wring fully and release the clutch normally: over to you "the holeshot", promises the manufacturer !

Beat the BMW S 1000 RR ?!

We know that in the World Superbike, Aprilia has raised its factory RSV4 to the rank of true benchmark. But in the Superstock category and in the national championships (in France, in particular), it’s the BMW S1000RR – with its options! – which looks like a scarecrow…

With this new APRC SE version, Aprilia is therefore delivering a ready-to-use competition motorcycle. Will the Italian beat the German … and the new Japanese, the Ninja ZX-10R, also particularly sharp of origin (read)? Case to follow !

The "Biaggi apprentices" will be able to go there frankly because it is now impossible to turn around like a pancake with this RSV4 thanks to the third system which equips the APRC edition: the AWC (for Aprilia Wheelie Control, not to be confused with the Cerebral Wascuclaire Accident) … As its name suggests, the AWC prevents any risk of falling during untimely rear-ups of the beast.

Aprilia ensures that the management of the wheelies is done very smoothly and specifies that the three settings, independent of ATC or ALC, will allow everyone to express themselves in complete safety … To be checked during a test MNC !

Finally, the last prerogative of this new RSV4 Factory APRC SE (Special Edition): an AQS (Aprilia Quick Shift), commonly known as a shifter, allows you to change gears without touching the clutch and without releasing the throttle … Precious hundredths saved !

Aprilia also reports that the three engine mappings have been refined, that the combustion chambers have been redesigned, that the engine lubrication has been improved, that the crankshaft is now mounted on ball bearings (plain bearings on the old version) and that the coolant circuit has been revised.

On the other hand, the manufacturer makes no mention of the distribution by cascade of pinions fitted to the Biaggi RSV4 – the real one, the factory one! – during the season and supposed to land on road models in 2011 (read) … See you in a month in Milan to clarify the whole matter !
