Relaunched in 2014, the "big" V-Strom qualifies for the Euro (4!) Without too much hassle: compared to the previous version, its 1037 cc twin-cylinder loses nothing in terms of power (100 hp still ), but lets slip 2 Nm (101 Nm therefore). Like all the latest Suzuki, the maxitrail is equipped with starting assistance, the famous "Low RPM Assist" which slightly increases the engine speed as the pilot shifts. The simplified starting system is also part of the game: no need to keep the starter pressed or to disengage.

Already very sophisticated, the Bosch ABS present on the old V-Strom 1000 evolves in 2017 thanks to the addition of the inertial unit (IMU) allowing to refine the interventions of the ABS unit on the front and rear brakes, which whether in a straight line or in a full curve. Also developed, the design of the screen – always adjustable – was developed with the aim of reducing turbulence, especially at the level of the helmet. Hamamatsu engineers claim to have fulfilled their mission. MNC will try to verify during a next test !

Like the V-Strom 650, the V-Strom 1000 will also be offered in an XT version tailored for the great roads: we can see its adventurous character with its spoked rims (tubeless), its hand guards and its plastic engine guard. In the accessories, a new 55-liter top case is capable of storing two A-class … but cannot be mounted at the same time as the suitcases !
