The final of the 2020 French Superbike championship which was to be held in Albi on September 12 and 13 has been canceled, due to upgrading works which also prevent the circuit from hosting motorcycle days this year.. Explanations.

"It is with frustration and sadness that we announce to you that the motorcycle will not be able to be accepted this year on our circuit", deplore the officials of the circuit of Albi (81) who "for reasons of homologation will neither be able to welcome the French Superbike Championship, no motorcycle racing day in 2020 ".

"In order to meet regulatory safety requirements, the Albi circuit must initiate work which will be carried out in 2020", confirms the French Motorcycling Federation (FFM) which will finally organize a French FSBK 2020 championship over six 6 events:

  1. March 27-29 – Le Mans (72) – ASM 24H ACO
  2. April 24-26 – Nogaro (32) – ASM Armagnac Bigorre
  3. May 22-24 – Ledenon (30) – MC Ledenon
  4. June 26-28 – Magny-Cours (58) – MC Nevers
  5. July 24-26 – Pau Arnos (64) – MC Pau Arnos
  6. August 21-23 – Carole (93) – MC Motors Events

The homologation work required by the FFM for the circuit to comply requires "a major modification of the current route" which involves "an enlargement of the loophole between turns 1 and 2".

"These works are extremely heavy and the circuit could not financially assume such a project", continue the persons in charge of the track of Albi who had appealed for the financing of the town hall so that this project can "see the light of day this winter".

Unfortunately, the public tender call launched proved unsuccessful because the stakeholders "could not find a financial agreement", indicates the circuit, specifying that "other solutions have been considered, but at given the timeframe for this work, no viable outcome could be found for the year 2020 ".

The Albi circuit will therefore be exclusively reserved "for 4 wheels this year, but the FFM at the origin of this constraint has undertaken that the FSBK final can again take place at the Albi circuit as soon as the work will be completed ", conclude the officials.
