Two months after Moteurs (AB Sat, Canal Satellite and cable) and at the end of a bitter legal fight, a new thematic channel devoted to motorized vehicles was to emerge in the French audiovisual landscape: Motors TV. Its two founders, journalist Jean-Luc Roy and ex-F1 driver Patrick Tambay, explain that "Motors TV is particularly interested in cars, motorcycles, airplanes and boats". It remains to be seen in what proportions … The channel plans to devote its 16 hours of daily broadcasting (from 8 am to midnight) to new products, test benches, debates, competitions, leisure, safety, training and the environment. Collaborators such as the journalists Sylvain Augier ("Should not dream" on France 3) and Gilles Schneider ("Place de la Republique" on France 2 and news director at RFI) or the actress Marie Fugain will also intervene, as will Stephane Peterhansel and Alain Prost, promoted to consultants "according to their availability". Motors TV should be available in the basic GST package. For the time being, the chain attributes its ignition difficulties to "technical problems".
