Electric scooters: Piaggio plans to electrify its wasp in 2017 with the Vespa Elettrica
Piaggio surprises with an unexpected concept of electric Vespa whose entry into production is already announced for the second half of 2017 … even though the characteristics of this wasp "Elettrica" still seem to be defined ! Explanations.
With the exception of new versions of scooters electric, the does not contain any large series "battery" two or three-wheeler. And this unexpected concept would not be just a prototype of a show, since its production and sale are already planned "for the second half of 2017", assures the Pontedera group. !
This very close deadline may come as a surprise insofar as this Vespa Elettrica is still in the development phase: Piaggio thus says "assess the most advanced players in the sector at world level to jointly develop innovative technological solutions in the field of electric motors". In other words, the characteristics of this Vespa would not yet be completely defined….
Piaggio also does not communicate any explanation on the mode of propulsion and recharging of this elegant silver Vespa Elettrica, whose lines are modeled on the Primavera, no more than its capacities. The Italian manufacturer is content to ensure that it will be "equipped with the very latest electrical technology and will retain all the functionalities essential to its success" … Extensive program !
In view of the very urban target for this type of vehicle, Piaggio should opt for equivalents of 50 and 125 cc scooters, as for its Primavera with thermal engine. The price will probably be around 6000 €, in accordance with the "Premium" and technological status put forward.
Recall that Piaggio had already attempted at the end of 2009 a breakthrough in the field of so-called "soft" mobility with its mixing gasoline and electric engines. , this somewhat cleaner tripod is now restricted to the role of a technological showcase for the manufacturer. But this Vespa Elettrica has an advantage which its 3-wheeled "cousin" lacked: its, which has sold more than 18 million units since its release in 1946. !
