Road rally: Julien Toniutti starts off strong in Laverune

Julien Toniutti won the Rallye des Garrigues, the first round of the 2013 French motorcycle rally championship organized in Laverune (34). The Site rider has won five of the eight specials on the program with his KTM 990 SMT.

For the reigning French champion, this victory has a special flavor since it allows him to start his original 2013 challenge on a good basis: the KTM official will indeed try to align himself at each event with a different model from the Katoche range! The n ° 1 recognizes however having benefited from the falls of its direct competitors, namely Pierre Coulon (Honda CBR600R) and Bruno Schiltz (Suzuki 750 GSXR).

"I wanted to give a nod to KTM, whose slogan is ‘Ready to race’ by starting this race with an original motorcycle," he explains. "When I say original I’m not talking about the tires: obviously the bike was shod in Michelin Power Supersport, and luckily for that matter! I also had heated sleeves supplied by Tecnoglobe. It was terribly cold in the morning, that was very useful to me. In terms of balance sheet I will therefore say that everything is positive! ".
