Road - Test Turismo Veloce Lusso: with weapons, without luggage - MNC at the controls of TV Lusso

Six months after participating in the official launch of the Turismo Veloce 800, Site went to MV Agusta in Varese (Italy) to test the high-end version nicknamed “ Lusso ”, equipped in particular with electronic suspensions… Andiamo !

First element which does not really jump in the eyes of the lambda biker but which will be very quickly spotted – and appreciated – by the wheels-always targeted by this bike: the "luxury" Turismo Veloce receives as standard a central stand !

While handling it, Site notes that the control unit lug is posted very high on the one hand, forcing the user to lift the tab, and very close to the side one on the other hand, therefore requiring a certain address. when wearing heavy road boots.

However, once the sole of the right foot is correctly placed on the end of the power station, the "lift-press" is easy. The Turismo Veloce Lusso then sits high, front wheel on the ground, which secures certain parking spaces and greatly facilitates chain maintenance..

The second accessory delivered as standard on the Lusso is another "classic" for heavy riders. And the Motorcycle Journal on the Internet does not need to turn on the ignition and discover the outside temperature (11 ° C according to the on-board computer) to know that it will make good use of it….

The course proposed by our hosts has for objective, not the moon, but a small ski resort. Culminating at an altitude of 1492 m, Mount Mottarone is today besieged by thick clouds whose humidity helps bring down the temperature: 6 ° C, winter is approaching !

As a precaution, therefore, MNC activates the heated grips as soon as it leaves the MV Agusta factory. The adjustment is made very easily via the left control which is used to scroll through all the information displayed by the color TFT screen.

Like electronic suspensions, ABS (disconnectable), traction control (8 levels and disconnectable), mileage trips (two partial and one total), driving modes (Rain, Touring, Sport or Custom ), speed limiter, cruise control and Bluetooth (!), the three heating levels can be managed with a simple push.

Adjusted to the first level, the handles quickly diffuse through our – old – winter gloves a soft and pleasant warmth. Out of curiosity this time, MNC activates level 3: it is effective, a little too much even in these autumnal conditions..

Like the standard TV, the Lusso is also fitted with hand guards as standard (with integrated flashers, it looks good but beware of lifts in the queue!). Wind, rain, snow: the future buyer should be able to face the worst conditions without risking the tab !

To get to Mottarone, MV Agusta certainly did not choose the most direct route. Fortunately, the opener knows the region: without him, MNC would undoubtedly have lost its way … Especially since the Lusso certainly incorporates a GPS sensor, but does not have a navigator to guide its pilot. !

"The Lusso includes a GPS data acquisition system which is used by our application", nevertheless welcomes Daniele Torresan, tablet in hand."You can visualize your route on a map and know at all points your speed, your degree of angle, your use of the engine, that of the suspensions, etc.".

On the other hand, contrary to what MV Agusta announced six months ago (and what still appears today on the commercial brochures): "the app does not calculate fuel consumption", warns our host."But we are working on it, for the next version !"

Still according to our interlocutor, the motorcycle can record up to 48 hours of driving … Including 44 hours to find its way for lack of GPS? Old experienced bikers will be able to pull out their good old paper maps. The more "young" will afford the Garmin Zumo 390 (492 € optional). In both cases, it is average on a "Premium" motorcycle….
