New Yamaha R6 2017: first information, photos and video
Two years after revolutionizing its YZF-R1, Yamaha is deeply reviewing its YZF-R6. Aesthetically very close to the Superbike, the Iwata Supersport is also inspired by it mechanically and electronically.. Site makes the presentations.
Like the, the new R6 – – adopts a central forced air intake very close to the Grand Prix M1, particularly discreet dual LED headlights, a higher bubble and a fairing that the Blues themselves qualify daring … The bikers who fell for the look of the R1 but could not afford it will be in heaven !
Potential customers will also be delighted to learn that the youngest member of the "R" family is equipping its 599 cc 4-cylinder – with unchanged dimensions and still unknown maximum power and torque – with magnesium cylinder head covers and side cases. It receives in parallel – and in series! – a new traction control system and a quickshifter ("Up", not "Down").
The cycle part of the triple world champion (with Crutchlow, with Davies and with Lowes) also evolves, in particular at the level of the front axle: the "600" inherits the KYB fork and the brakes of the "1000", just that !
Ditto at the rear, where the R6 gets a brand new magnesium rear buckle, 20mm thinner. With the new more inclined saddle, the rider should become more one with the machine and its tank … made of aluminum (-1.2 kg compared to steel), using specific cold welding technology.
The instrumentation for its part remains faithful to the good old analog tachometer. The adjoining multifunction digital screen incorporates the status of TCS … and ABS now mandatory which contributes to the increase in the weight of the machine (+1 kg) and to that of the tariff, unknown to date! MNC will try to find it at the next Eicma fair: stay tuned !
