The official – and tyrannical – Kawasaki team in the Superbike World Championship has just completed two days of testing in Jerez (Spain). The opportunity for the six-time champion Jonathan Rea and his teammate Alex Lowes to release their new Ninja ZX-10RR, in preview. Watch out in 2021, Darth Vader strikes back.

Superbike teams from Kawasaki, Honda and Yamaha – as well as the HRC MotoGP development team – gathered on the Jerez circuit, at the southern tip of Spain, to continue the eternal development of their racing motorcycles….

Unsurprisingly, it was Jonathan Rea who concluded these tests at the top of the timesheet, completing the 4.423 km of the Andalusian route in 1 ‘38.324, or just 77 thousandths of a second from his record Superpole recorded in 2019! Always so ruthless this "JR".

"We have started to work on certain elements for 2021, as part of the test schedule that KHI sent us", declared last night the giant the green ogre () who is still aiming for the title next year.

"As usual, we gathered information and tried a lot of things: a different front fairing to give our opinion on Kawasaki, the feel of the engine, the front fork, parts for the brakes and a front tire for Pirelli", Rea summed up.

While the official presentation of the ZX-10RR 2021 is maintained on November 23, 2021 (at 3 p.m. sharp), Kawasaki – logically – chose to unveil it in preview during these tests which served as a break-in for Akashi’s future Superbike.

Kawasaki cultivates its big bad look

It is Pere Riba, chief mechanic of Rea, who releases the most – hides the least – on the new mount of his pilot: "the engine has a new character and that changes. The aerodynamics of the new fairing seem very good. to work, it helps in different areas. It also changes the balance of the bike a bit and we need time to find the best configuration ".

Third time at the end of the two days of testing, a good half a second behind his leader but only five hundredths behind "Stroprak" Razgatlioglu (see the second video at the bottom of the article!), Alex Lowes s’ is also delighted with his new bike, especially its impressive – scary ?! – new fairing…

"In the afternoon, we drove with some 2021 parts", relates the n ° 22 of the KRT team (6th of the World Superbike championship 2020), "including our new fairing. It works well and it also looks great, this which is always a bonus ".

Inspired – derived, stretched and amplified! – from that of the Ninja H2 R, the new face of the ZX-10RR furiously resembles the mask of a certain Darth Vader, right? You know, the infamous but (warning spoiler!) Repentant black lord whose helmet was itself inspired by those of the brave samurai … With the Ninja 2021, the circle is complete !
