Bridgestone renews its road range with three new motorcycle tires: the sport-touring T30 Evo, the "trail-GT-esque" A40 and the sporty RS10. MNC takes stock of these 2015 innovations.

Battlax T30 Evo

Launched at the beginning of last year as a replacement for the, the knows its first named evolution – logically! – "Evo". The Japanese manufacturer has mainly focused on improving its performance in the wet thanks to new rubber compounds and redesigned grooves..

According to Bridgestone, "the combination of a novel compound on the front tire and a newly developed one on the center tread of the rear tire improves wet performance without sacrificing capability on dry surfaces, but also on a wider operating temperature range ".

These "top secret" blends would also benefit stability while significant rear tire scoring changes would increase both tread stiffness and corner contact area..

The T30 Evo will be "gradually" put on the market from February 2015, in 120 / 70ZR17 at the front and 160 / 60ZR17 or 180 / 55ZR17 at the rear. Contacted by MNC, Bridgestone France did not wish to communicate its price: "Bridgestone does not announce public prices, these being defined by the distributors", informed us the manufacturer..

Battlax Adventure A40

Hitherto articulated around the Battle Wing range, Bridgestone’s range of on-road maxi-trails was enriched in 2015 with the new Battlax Adventure A40 tire. In particular, the tire manufacturer has redesigned the profile of the front to increase the contact area with the ground.

Paving stones described as "massive" are responsible for increasing rigidity, while giving an all-terrain aspect to these new tires..

The specific construction of the belt would help improve shock absorption, while a compound incorporating patented technology (NanoPro-Tech) would improve performance in the wet.

Finally, the front-to-rear tread has been redesigned and now accommodates wider grooves, to improve drainage on wet ground. The Adventure A40 will initially be available "in 110/80/19 at the front and 150/70/17 at the rear", informs us Bridgestone.

Battlax RS10

The successor to the BT-003RS, the Battlax RS10 is the new spearhead of the Japanese tire manufacturer’s "Racing Street" range. Unlike the BT-016 Pro sportsmen or the S20 Evo whose main field of action remains the road, the RS10 is above all a circuit tire approved for road use..

In other words, it is almost a MotoGP slick (which Bridgestone will provide) re-cut and adapted to the constraints of the road !

Thanks to new compounds and an increase in the contact area allowed by new kerfs, its grip when exiting curves, its steering power and its rigidity would be improved..

Bridgestone further reports a weight gain of "650 grams" over BT-003RS, which should benefit liveliness by reducing the gyroscopic effect. The RS10 will be "gradually" put on the market from January 2015, in 120/70/17 at the front and in 190/55/17 or in 200/55/17 at the rear: the "standard" sizes most punchy roadsters and sport bikes in current production.
