Better known for its GT production, Metzeler also offers an exclusively sport-oriented Racetec range. And what could be better than a victory for the German manufacturer in one of the most famous road races to celebrate the arrival of the youngest? ?

Specificities of Metzeler Racetec Interact

The latest sporting gem from Metzeler, the Racetec Interact is the German answer to the Michelin Power One, Bridgestone BT-003, Dunlop Qualifier RR and other Pirelli Supercorsa: like with friends, the grooving is reduced to its strict minimum for road homologation , but retains the hook-shaped visual signature specific to the Racetec range. This brand new tire – obviously more efficient in all areas than its predecessor! – uses the Interact technology which allows Metzeler not to enter the multigum waltz by optimizing the relationship between the components and the 0 ° belt. Thus, thanks to more than 120 steel cords located inside the rear tire and the reduced space between them – less than 1 mm – it would be possible to adapt the profile of the tire according to each grip. ‘angle. In addition, lowering the tension in the central zone makes the carcass more flexible and makes it possible to more easily absorb the stresses imposed by strong accelerations. Four ranges of front and rear tires – from K0 to K3 – are available depending on the bitumen temperature … which says a lot about the sporty temperament of the Racetec Interact !

In the disputed – and oh so sharp! – segment of sports tires, the technological outbidding continues to grow. Following the progress made on the constitution of the compounds, but also the obligation to respond to the rise in power – in every sense of the word – of the most recent sports, the border between a racing tire and its road variation is more in thinner !

However, what everyone may not know – hence the interest of reading Site! – is that it is not only Michelin, Bridgestone, Pirelli and Dunlop who offer tires as sticky as chewing gum – and sometimes just as ephemeral … The German manufacturer Metzeler (Pirelli group) It also has a range of ultra-sporty tires called Racetec, the latest evolution of which, the Racetec Interact (see box opposite), has just won the famous North West 200 in the Superstock category. !

Second in Supersport, the new German racing product immediately proves its value on this demanding track where confidence in its tire installation must be absolute before tumbling down toc on the roads of Northern Ireland between Portrush, Portstewart and Coleraine.

Ireland’s largest annual sporting event (with more than 100,000 visitors each year), this incredible race – in the same vein as the Tourist Trophy on the Isle of Man – takes place over four to six laps on a close "circuit" 14.5 km, shoulder to shoulder with his opponents !

A rather successful first participation for the Racetec Interact, especially as the bad weather conditions largely contributed to complicating the task of Alastair Seeley (Relentless Suzuki), winner in Superstock, and his teammate, Cameron Donald, who is placed at the fourth position! In Supersport, Bruce Anstey (Relentless Suzuki) did not stop fighting against the experienced Steve Plater: the Metzeler rider even managed to take the lead of the race on the last lap, but ultimately failed in second position.

"This event confirms the ease of use of the Metzeler Racetec Interact tire", rejoices Luca Zaccomer, international marketing manager of the brand: "with its multiple tensions in the structure of the tire, pilots can better adapt to different road conditions. . We are very happy that our new product is already on the top steps of the podiums and we are very confident for the next races to come ".
