Every day after the race (three races per weekend in World Superbike now!), The Moto Journal du Net establishes the riders‘ classification … In the United States, Jonathan Rea had another dream weekend or almost: he only let victory escape in the second round and therefore pocketed 57 points … But he increases his lead in the championship by the same amount !

Indeed, Alvaro Bautista lived a totally nightmarish stay on the other side of the Atlantic. In the first round, the n ° 19 Ducati was dominated and pushed to the fault by the "Number One" Kawasaki … and by his teammate at n ° 7! Eliminated involuntarily by Razgatlioglu in the Superpole race, the Spanish "rookie" had to retire in the second round because of a too painful shoulder..

Chaz Davies is the other big winner of this ninth WSBK 2019 event. Entering the Top 3 only on "his" Aragon circuit since he piloted the Panigale V4, the "Welsh dragon" has not descended from the box matches this weekend, even returning to victory yesterday afternoon. "Chazie" takes the opportunity to pass Sykes again in the championship, although the BMW driver n ° 66 is still in the game…

For the third consecutive event, Toprak Razgatlioglu reaches the overall Top 3 of MNC and improves his best score (38 pts). Kenan Sofuoglu’s colt confirms his status as the new cador of the category and moves closer to the World Top 5, currently closed by Leon Haslam … that the Turkish could well replace next year within the factory KRT team. he continues to perform like this !

Fourth best scorer of the weekend with 31 points scored, Tom Sykes also recorded his best mark in the United States (31 pts). As in his debut with Kawa, “Super” Sykes is becoming more and more enduring on the track and consistent on the results sheets. By completing the podium in the Superpole race behind Rea and Davies, Sykes gave Great Britain their 50th hat-trick (Vs Japan 4, Australia 2, Italy 1 and Canada 1).

Unlike Tom and Toprak, Alex Lowes did not have his best weekend of the season at Laguna Seca. However, his 28 new points allow him to overtake his teammate – diminished by an injury, but that’s also the race! – Michael van der mark at the provisional. The 2013 British Superbike champion reaches the World Top 3 and leads the Yamaha riders…

At the gates of the American Top 5 (80% British …), Loris Baz and Jordi Torres brilliantly and respectively defended their colors: blue-white-red for our "Haut-Savoyard cheetah", red and yellow (tinged with green Kawasaki) for the "Spanish Elvis". In the end, No. 76 and No. 81 both scored 20 points. They neutralize each other in the championship … and emulate each other to reach the Top 10 !

Site publishes reactions – in French! – of the Top 5 at Laguna Seca on Sunday evening. MNC also gives the floor to our international pilot, Loris Baz, as well as to the best – or less worst? – representatives of each brand of motorcycles. Do you speak French ?

“If I had been told that I would come here to set a new lap record, win two races and start first overall, I never would have believed it. So it was a great weekend. We had a great weekend. very small change on the bike between the Superpole race and the second round. My feeling was completely different, but we did not expect it. The front axle was moving a lot, whereas during all the previous weekend, it was our point strong. I got a few little warnings, just enough to make me decide to keep some restraint, think about finishing first, and that’s what we did. I’m just super satisfied with this weekend and I did my best in the second race. I was looking forward to the summer holidays ".

Chaz Davies (Ducati n ° 7), 2nd with 54 pts:

"This victory means a lot to me because it has been a long and difficult season so far. The last time I won was almost a year and a half ago, and it makes you wonder if we can still win or not. So this is proof that if you hang in there and keep working hard, the results will come sooner or later. For us it was today. We finally got it all together, my team did a great job especially at the end of the FP1 session on Friday morning when we made a big change to the bike setup. To be honest I wasn’t sure I had the pace to win, because Johnny’s tempo in the first run was strong and consistent, while I had picked the wrong tire. Still, I wasn’t sure the tire for the second run would make the difference. I’m really happy to get this result before the summer holidays, we are all clearly going to celebrate it tonight! "

Toprak Razgatlioglu (Kawasaki n ° 54), 3rd with 38 pts:

"I finished fourth in the Superpole race and then had a good feeling with the bike in the second long race. I tried to follow the lead riders again but it was impossible. In the last ten laps, the rear grip dropped but I’m really glad I got a second podium at Laguna Seca. I’m now focusing on the Suzuka 8 Hours and then I’ll take a vacation! "

Tom Sykes (BMW n ° 66), 4th with 31 pts:

“We leave again with a bag full of Top 5s, including a podium in the Superpole race. Overall this weekend has been very productive for the entire BMW Motorrad WorldSBK team. The bike does not seem to be getting the most out of it. tires at the moment, but we have gathered a lot of information. That said, the end of the second run gives me a lie since we had a lot of pace and I closed the gap with Alex Lowes. a positive point. Summer vacation is coming so it’s nice to have so much information and I hope the guys on the team can put it to good use. There are still areas to work on but in all in all, it’s very promising. Getting on three podiums in the last three events is not so bad, especially against these experienced manufacturers. I enjoy riding, I have a great relationship with the team and BMW, and it goes without saying that we are headed in the right direction. I think everyone world has seen that the progress made between the opening round and now has been quite impressive ".

Alex Lowes (Yamaha n ° 22), 5th with 28 pts:

“This weekend has been pretty decent, on a track that has always been difficult for us and where we had never really been in the rhythm, which was unfortunately the case for all Yamaha. This afternoon, j felt like I did my best – the top three were just too far away for me to worry about – so I’m pretty happy with fourth place. This result means I’m overtaking Michael in the standings of the championship and I’m now third. It’s still a shame he had a problem with the bike today because he did such a good job here and at Donington, so soon after injured in Misano. But sometimes the race is like that, it will certainly allow us to have an interesting final in four rounds, as we are both determined to finish the season in the Top 3. I am now looking forward to the 8h of Suzuka with the Yamaha Factory Racing Team, some free time e, then the return to WorldSBK in Portimao, a track that suits the R1 well and on which we will try to fight again at the forefront ".

Loris Baz (Yamaha n ° 76), 6th with 20 pts:

USA - Laguna Seca - WSBK 2019 statements at Laguna Seca: a victory that matters for Davies -

“It was all in all a good Sunday, although we would have liked to have done better after our weekend at Donington Park. It’s a track less suited to our bike so I’m pretty happy with what I’ve accomplished. over the three heats. The Superpole race went well with a seventh place at the finish, even if my feeling was not very good. For the second race, I made the bet to put on the most tire. soft that we normally use for Superpole racing. I managed to go all the way, with a seventh position again and a much faster pace. We made a lot of progress on a track which was tricky for all Yamishas. Still, I have a positive assessment of this first part of the season. We will carry out tests in August during which we will be able to evaluate different settings without pressure. I will take a few days of rest before recovering. in training. I can’t wait to get back on track! J I am very happy with the way things went on these first events ".

Alessandro Delbianco (Honda n ° 52), 16th with 3 pts:

"I am really sorry to have fallen in the Superpole race, and in particular to have trained with me Beach (JD Beach, editor’s note). I was hoping to catch up during the second round, but I did not have the same felt like yesterday and so I struggled to maintain the pace needed. It was a great experience racing here at Laguna Seca for the first time, but I would have liked to have done more. Thanks to my team who worked so hard for me this weekend ".

Alvaro Bautista (Ducati n ° 19), 17th and last with 0 pt:

USA - Laguna Seca - WSBK 2019 statements at Laguna Seca: a victory that matters for Davies -

“I feel really bad for what happened today. At the first corner of the Superpole race, Razgatlioglu completely cut off my line and I couldn’t do anything to prevent his rear wheel from hitting my front tire. His maneuver ruined my two races today as I injured my left shoulder in the accident. I was taken to the medical center and after checking, the medics gave me the green light to try to participate on the second run because the x-ray had shown that nothing was broken. Unfortunately, after one turn, I realized that the pain was too much. I had no strength in my left arm and I couldn’t brake in the left turns (7 out of 11 in Laguna Seca, Editor’s note …), that’s why I came into the pits. I’m really sorry because we are working very well and we always find a way to go fast, but we are going through a very difficult time at the moment. I am sure that if we persevere, we will come back stronger than ever, more eager to win. As soon as I get home, I will have more careful checks on my shoulder ligaments. Fortunately, the two month break before the next race will surely allow me to fully recover ".
