Launched in 2012, the are an original festival mixing surf and motorbike cultures with the backdrop of preparation in all its forms. Having become a new point of reference for neo-retro "trendy" manufacturers such as BMW, Ducati, Triumph or Yamaha, this event will take place from June 8 to 12 at the Cite de l’Ocean in Biarritz (64).

Races, exhibitions and fun

One of the peculiarities of the Wheels and Waves festival is its hill climb races performed with all kinds of seriously "typed" vintage motorcycles, the Punk Peak’s. The master stroke of the organizers – the Toulouse Southsiders led by Vincent Prat – is to have planned these races in demonstration format on the roads of Mount Jaïzkibel, between the Basque coast and Spain, just below Biarritz.

In this way, all the boring administrative hassles specific to France are carefully avoided, while keeping the heart of the festival within our borders: smart !

In 2016, this “show racing” aspect was reinforced by an unprecedented Flat Track competition organized at the San Sebastian Lasarte racecourse (Spain). Surfing will of course be on the program with a "Thirsty Fins" competition to be held on Milady beach in Biarritz

A trendy festival

With 10,000 visitors announced in 2015, this festival claiming a certain freedom of mind and a certain mix of tastes is gaining importance in the motorcycle landscape, aided in this by the brands that communicate precisely around the same themes. BMW and Ducati are the perfect examples with their respective Scrambler (for Behème), of which a large part of the marketing campaign mixes surfing and motorcycles. CQFD !

Triumph is also very involved in Wheels and Waves: in addition to a stand exhibiting its entire "Modern Classic" range (including the stunning one) and several preparations, the English manufacturer also offers a very cozy private space, the Triumph House, located in seaside 1 km from the 128 stands in the Village, reserved for owners of brand motorcycles.
