French evil…
On the evening of the 2008 WSBK season, the French clan was worried: no French driver had yet to enter 2009. Next season looks very dull in Superbike for the French clan and it is more or less the same. in Supersport.
The French clan is worried: for the time being, on the evening of the 2008 season of the Superbike world championship, no French driver has yet entered for the 2009 season. Sebastien Gimbert could end up in the French championship with a Yamaha R1 from team of Christophe Guyot, while Regis Laconi has no firm proposal for next year.
Regis should try this week, on the new Portuguese circuit, the Honda of the DF Xtrem team. A second-rate motorcycle at the heart of a championship that appears more exciting than ever next year with seven manufacturers in the race.
Suffice to say that if this lead comes to fruition, we will not have to expect sparks from Regis in terms of results….
2009 promises to be very dull in Superbike for the French clan and it is pretty much the same in the Supersport category: we will have at least two first-rate representatives with Fabien Foret within the official Yamaha team, but also Matthieu Lagrive who signed with the Honda Althea team. An excellent Italian structure which has had many successes in the World Cup and which will be able to offer the quadruple endurance world champion the equipment he deserves … Finally! It’s a great chance for Matthieu, who has multiplied his exploits this year on the handlebars of a receding motorcycle..
Which would make us three pilots in the two championships … It is far from being America, when we see the number of English pilots who land since their national championship in 2009. There is something to be ashamed of. !
Why can’t a rider like Sylvain Guintoli manage to find a handlebar in the Superbike world championship? Why does the French Superbike champion, Guillaume Dietrich, not have the slightest chance of finding a handlebar in the World? So many questions that remain unanswered…
And when young drivers enter the Superstock category, like the brothers Foray and Sylvain Barrier in 1000 STK, or Loris Baz, Jeremy Guarnoni, Matthieu Lussiana, etc. in 600 STK, they have to pay to ride: to switch to 600 Supersport, the smallest team asks them for 100,000 euros. Which sponsors are able to help a French rider at this height to participate in a world motorcycle championship? Not to mention the current economic crisis … Unfortunately for our pilots, they are French. And in France, motorcycle sport … nobody cares !
