WSBK - Sylvain Barrier at the WSBK in Misano: '' without pressure '' - Used BMW

Package at Phillip Island after a heavy fall and then kept out of the circuits because of a road accident, Sylvain Barrier will find his BMW S1000RR this weekend in Misano. Contacted by MNC, the Frenchman wants to resume at his own pace… Big gas !

This weekend in Misano will be crossed the mid-season milestone in. It is more exactly after the first morning race that the drivers will have disputed half of the races of this season: 13 out of 26 (see our). But it will be different for Sylvain Barrier…

Indeed, the two-time Superstock 1000 champion will participate on Sunday – if all goes well, fingers crossed! – at his very first race in 2014! following a nasty fall during the final winter tests, Sylvain was the victim in March of one who has had it until now.

Member of the BMW Italia team, the Frenchman will finally find his beloved S1000RR this weekend for the second Italian test of the season which takes place on a circuit that "Syl’20" appreciates a lot (victory in STK 2012 , especially).

To validate his, in addition to the green light from the doctors, Sylvain previously carried out a test day with his team on the circuit of Magione, in Tuscany, on the handlebars of a production HP4.

"It was just before Sepang", specifies Sylvain questioned by Site:"the bike was stock, the circuit is not going very quickly, but it was enough to take the temperature back and see if everything was going well". However, everything went very well !

"It was impressive, I was even surprised", he tells us delighted,"because I haven’t lost anything in terms of sensations". Performance level, the French champion is more measured: against rivals perfectly sharpened, what can he expect as a result on Sunday ?

Pleasant return to Misano, winner in Portimao ?

"In these cases, you don’t ask yourself questions", Sylvain replies:"you do not set yourself requirements to fulfill. You go there relaxed, cool, a bit like when I participate in triathlon or running races: I go without pressure".

This weekend, driver # 52 – he wears the race number of his mentor James Toseland – will use his usual method: "do what you know how to do, like you can do, you give the best of yourself and like that at least you have nothing to regret afterwards".

A method that "Sylv’1" uses on each outing and which has proven itself: he climbed 23 podiums in 55 races contested in Superstock 1000, won ten victories, clinched fifteen pole positions … and lifted two STK 1000 cups in 2012 and 2013, of course! A list that only asks to be fleshed out. "From Portimao instead"Sylvain blows us…

"The bike has changed a lot this year, but I have known the whole team for four years, which limits the apprehension", continues our sympathetic interlocutor before the test of Misano:"on my side I have to take my marks on the track, make myself happy and the rest will go by itself".

"Alone", Sylvain will remain so within the BMW Italia team: "Leon Camier will not continue by my side. The team will not line up two bikes, not for lack of money but for lack of people to work on them". Gentlemen, mechanics, to your CVs ?!

The replacement – – of our fifth rider in World Superbike (with Guintoli, Baz, Guarnoni and Lanusse!) Has nevertheless finished the first Evo rider four times in ten participations. "Kamir" is in third place in the Evo ranking and would have deserved to fight to the end…

"His four victories in the Evo category confirm his qualities as a driver as well as the competitiveness of the package and the team., emphasizes Andrea Buzzoni, Managing Director of BMW Motorrad Italia. "We wish Leon a bright professional future … he deserves it", but apart from this structure, unfortunately.

For his part, Leon is naturally "sad to report Sepang was his last race with BMW Italia, but wish Sylvain Barrier all the best for his comeback". Back to follow live this weekend on Site: stay tuned !
