WSBK - Troy Bayliss is back in service on the 1198! - Used DUCATI

The small world of the World Superbike is in turmoil: Troy Bayliss spent two days at Mugello perfecting a Ducati 1198 which is currently struggling in the world championship! But there is no question of returning to competition… for the moment ?

While the rumors on a possible return to competition of Troy Bayliss are rife on the web, the "Corsica" department of Ducati officially takes stock of the two days of tests carried out – yesterday and today – by the Australian Mugello riding the 2009 SBK champion.

"The two days of testing, planned for a few months in the 2010 Ducati program, were conditioned by the rain", specifies the press release.

Cleverly, the Italian manufacturer first cut short all media hype about the fact that Troy is helping his team and his family only because of the disappointing results of Haga and Fabrizio in the World Superbike at the start of the season (read our ).

In addition, by evoking – rightly – a completely wet track on the first day and only dry this afternoon, the manufacturer is sheltered from any comparison with the times made by the Superbikes of the Italian championship (best lap in the race). last October: 1’54.550 for Baiocco on Ducat ‘… !

Troy Bayliss himself is particularly satisfied with this cover: "I was a little worried about not knowing how to fly after a break of a year and a half", testifies the irreplaceable n ° 21,"but it turned out easy and honestly i felt like i never stopped !".

At the end of his two days of testing – and two and a half hours of driving in the dry -, Troy therefore sets a stopwatch "extremely impressive for a Mugello Superbike", underlines his long-standing team: 1’51.9.

For information – not comparison! -, Valentino Rossi, who was the fastest in the race last year on his MotoGP M1, was running in 1’51.186! The 41-year-old Australian was therefore not there to amuse the gallery (although that is not incompatible, read).

"The team worked on the development of new shifter management software and got very positive results so that it could be used in the race on Sunday (in Kyalami in South Africa, Editor’s note) ", specifies the Ducati team.

The general setting of the 1198 would have also been fine-tuned, in order to allow Haga and Fabrizio to finally reach the outposts … The Japanese and the Italian are under pressure: if Monza is not the most suitable circuit for Ducati, Kyalami’s, on the other hand, seems to have been drawn for her. Last year, Nori and Michel finished 1st and 2nd in each round (read) !

In the event of further disappointment – will Haga finally qualify with dignity? -, could it be that Super Bayliss flies to the aid of the Reds by resuming service, for "real" this time, against Biaggi, Haslam, Rea, Crutchlow, Toseland, Corser and Co? The poster is attractive … To be continued: stay tuned !
