Statements from the second Superbike race

Carlos Checa, 1st: "It’s a fantastic weekend, I can’t remember the last one like that. The team worked very well. Yesterday I struggled in the wet, but today we had two great races, the first more than the second. In the second run, I felt I could win, I just had to keep my concentration. Anyway it was fantastic, for my whole team, for Ducati, for everyone here. Congratulations to Max for the title, it’s a shame for Leon Haslam".

Noriyuki Haga, 2nd: "I am very happy today. The bike was much better than in the first round. I approached Carlos in the final laps, but I couldn’t catch him. It only remains for me to do my best at Magny-Cours to improve my position in the championship ".

Cal Crutchlow, 3rd: "After a difficult first race for me, coming back from 12th place on the grid in such a tight race is a very good result. I really had to work for it, I thank Yamaha Sterilgarda, they did a good job especially for the second race. We have made some changes in the meantime, it was kind of a gamble, but the job in general was satisfactory".

Max Biaggi, (11th then) 5th: "I am so happy, it is a great emotion that I feel throughout my body. It’s fantastic. It’s a dream come true, I never stopped dreaming to make it happen. It has always been on my mind, I firmly believed in it: this year we did a good job at Aprilia, there were some great tough riders, I don’t want to underestimate them, some are more consistent than some ‘others but they are all fast and the competition in this championship is very high. I had so many problems in the first race: off track, on the track, the bike across … but I did not fall. It was very hard, we didn’t get the best set-up here at Imola, it’s not an easy track, but I never gave up. In the second round, we changed the bike and I attacked from the first lap. It’s really a great day for me, for my whole team, for Aprilia Alitalia, my sponsors, all those who have supported us to make this dream come true. We really did it".
