At the end of each World Superbike event, in addition to our reports of the Superbike and Supersport races, Site invites you to relive the weekend on video with the riders’ statements and the editorial staff’s analysis. !

Statements from the first Superbike race

Jonathan Rea 1st: "In the first race honestly I felt that someone up there was watching over me because I felt like I couldn’t make a mistake! It was great to win and I dedicate this victory to my team manager, Ronald Ten Kate, who couldn’t be here this weekend because his father is very ill. The start of this race was very strange because when I sat on the grid, the only thing that obsessed me was going to the bathroom! As soon as the race started I got in the lead and continued smoothly for the next 19 laps. It was so good to win a race again: I almost forgot how it felt".

Max Biaggi 2nd: "Arriving on Friday, we did not have the same feeling as last year, so we tried to adjust the bike as close as possible to last year. In absolute terms, we made progress but my feeling was not great. Unfortunately it is like that, but we are going to make some changes to the settings for the 2nd round and we hope it will lead to some surprises. ".

Cal Crutchlow 3rd: "To declare myself disappointed would be an understatement. I took the start with high hopes, the grip yesterday was very favorable to us but as you can see, we struggled because of the rear grip from the start of the race. Johnny drove fantastically and escaped, as did Max. I tried my best, I had no choice".

Sylvain Guintoli 4th (then 7th): "I am quite satisfied with my results and especially with my fourth place in the 1st heat. I felt good today and enjoyed the first run more than the second. Like in Misano, we had a hard time getting the bike to run on the new tires. We have adjustment problems with these tires: the old ones caused us less trouble. While I used the new ones for both races, they did not behave the same in both runs. They were the same though! After securing my fourth place, I was eager to return to pick up some new big points. It was really, really disappointing not to find the necessary grip. I couldn’t go as fast as I wanted and had to wrestle with the bike the whole last round".
