WSBK - WSBK 2014: Qatar confirmed but South Africa canceled -

The FIM has just announced that the final round of the 2014 World Superbike in Losail has been confirmed, and that it will be contested at night! On the other hand, the one supposed to be argued on October 19 in Phakisa is canceled… It could (conditional!) Be replaced.

The has just been updated and the International Motorcycling Federation has some good news and some bad news for fans: the first concerns the November 2 final in Qatar, the second the October 19 event….

The WSBK will return as planned this year to the Losail International Circuit. The Superbike and Supersport riders will have the added bonus of riding at night, an honor that the Qataris had until then reserved for their Grand Prix counterparts….

"The impressive Losail International Circuit lighting system is powered by 44 13-megawatt generators and includes 1,000 street lights, 3,600 bulbs and 500 km of wiring", proudly remind the organizers !

"As the event is contested at night, the season-closing WSBK and WSS award ceremony will take place in Doha the following day, on the evening of Monday, November 3.", they specify for the attention of the lucky ones who will go there…

The prizes for the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup, the European Superstock 600 Championship and the European Junior Cup will be awarded to Magny Cours on Sunday 5 October, "or at the circuit selected for the new event".

Please note, this will not be an additional round, but a possible thirteenth, replacing the one scheduled for October 19 at Phakisa Freeway and unfortunately canceled this very morning, as it had been in May..

Indeed, "the FIM and Dorna WSBK regret to announce that, despite the efforts of the local promoter (GAS Sport), the work on the circuit has not progressed sufficiently to meet the criteria of the FIM homologation". The two organizations are currently on a war footing to find a fallback solution. Contacted by Site, the FIM has not released the slightest clue on the tracks – hohoho – explored…

Sylvain Guintoli, who is naturally sorry about this cancellation (50 points that go up in smoke, it’s a good "bad news for championship wrestling", he chirps), understands that the circuit of Brno (Czech Republic) is on" pole ". To be continued on MNC of course: stay connected !
